Western Bulldogs trio Marcus Bontempelli, Jack Macrae and Bailey Dale have all been named in the 2021 Therabody All Australian Squad.

Apart from the highly subjective traits of the panellists themselves there are random events that affect selections even if not always logical.

For instance Keath would have been right in the frame 6 weeks ago but his hamstring injury might have given them enough of an excuse to leave him out when it came to the last few eliminations.

Similarly our late season fade out and especially not finishing top four makes it justifiable to have just a token representation from the side that dominated the competition for most of the year. It’s just unfortunate timing but being a smaller club means it’s easier to make those sort of calls. That’s what we always cop whether it’s rising star or anything else based on subjective opinion and media involvement.

I’d be very surprised if we get all three into the final 22. More likely just Bont.

Keath just isn’t rated by the talking heads, he only missed two games yet they probably hold 2MP kicking 7 against him even though he didn’t play. Been heads and shoulders above Aliir this year.

Based on performance and luck over the last couple of weeks we might get 0 in.

The final 22 was always going to be iffy as it can be for defenders, but Keath definitely should’ve been in the 40.

I think Dale easily makes the side. They’re very light on for defenders with only Salem & Aliir missing from the squad of 40. They never chuck midfielders in defence.

I don't think Stewart plays as a genuine kpd, he is more of an interceptor/back pocket taking a 3rd tall. Laird is a mid now (as I said) but has primarily played half back through his career so could conceivably be slotted back there.

If Aliir Aliir doesn’t make the team I’ll spew up. He has been incredible this season. I’d have him first picked. The others are deserving too. Him for Weitering would be the only change I’d make to that back 6. Bailey Dale is probably 50/50 with Salem, or the first to miss out if they try and shoe horn a Mills or Laird to half back because they’ve played there before, but I think Dale is in the box seat for that.

Can’t see any universe where Bontempelli aren’t in the 22.
