abc country hour is the bane of the country cricket fan
in the middle of the session ,we in the country get interrupted from our cricket service to hear an hour of radio dedicated to riveting subjects such as the price of cattle and sheep,the weather,the wagin CWA's cake stall on saturday etc..
the game can be in the balance,lyon could be on a hat trick ,rogers could be on the verge of a double ton (unlikely i know) and then bang on 12 o'clock off we go for an hour of rural dribble
we just missed the best 40 minutes of aussie test cricket for years due to this farce.

Digital radio is only in the mainland state capitals cities at this stage I think. Its available here to some extent, but not really available beyond SBS and the ABC Jazz stations.
Doesn't help for the country hour farce. Complain to the ABC about it out of season and "sumer is too far away for us to consider any moves". In, or close to, the cricket and the respone is "its too late to make any schedule changes now".

Sounds shit. I remember last year (I think) listening in Melbourne and getting 2-3 minutes bushfire updates every half hour. That was annoying enough.

its help full for the farmers, at best but it gets rather tiring with the constant whinging from the farmers. its half interesting to listen to when, you are out in the middle of no where, & the only radio you can pick up is, the horse racing & abc radio. but to interrupt a session of cricket for it,

Things were just as bad in 1997 when the ABC ceased their footy coverage to broadcast the death of Lady Di.
