You must have got BF mistaken for something else

I pay for my swans membership every year and i am entitled to my opinion, whether it be right or wrong. That is different to being just a fan who pays nothing, doesn't even go to the footy and support his or her club. BF is a footy forum where people are going to disagree.
Do you think the match commmitee don't have disagreements, or even our famed leadership group, it happens in life.

Your entitled to it yes, but it seems to be a common occurrence.

But in this case I agree with you anyways...

Post 44 sums it up, i don't need to add to that sensible post.

your entitled to your own opinion, who would you rather have right now, injury free Hall in good form or a injury prone Bradshaw? Remember the Lions didn't pull heaven and earth to change his mind and keep him there because it isn't worth the effort. I do hope in 2011/12 he proves me wrong, but at this stage of his career he seems to less fit then Hally, a leopard never changes its spots.

Well that is a fairly meaningless question, "who would you rather someone who is injured or someone who is not injured?" Obviously you would rather someone who is not injured. But you ought to look at the last few years of Bradshaw's and Hall's careers. Bradshaw came back from a very serious knee injury to have 2 great seasons for Brisbane in 2008 and 2009 while Hall, though still a very capable player as i have always said, was not in a place to stay with us. I wish he was still here cause i loved him as a player, but it had gotten to a point where for the good of his career and our club, Hall had to leave. And he has done well.

We went out and got a replacement, a very capable one at that, who had come off 133 goals in the past 2 years. And got him for absolutely nothing. He has had injury concerns this year but you can't call that "a leopard never changing his spots". He's got injuries, those aren't behavioral problems, they're just what happens.

Why don't we just reserve judgement on his success or failure at our club til his contract is over?

Comparing Hall to Bradshaw doesn't even make sense because it's not like either had any impact. Hall was gone long before we even knew Bradshaw was even on the market.

We didn't give up anything for Bradshaw so if in the end the punt fails, we really haven't lost anything. I don't think we're going to have any salary cap pressure for the next 2 years so that shouldn't be an issue.

On the bright side, we might be able to bring Bradshaw on as a forwards coach.

yeah, the bradshaw/hall debate is a pretty pointless

the swans and hall could no longer coexist...so we made that decision knowing we were losing out...

bradshaw pretty much fell in our lap, and when he plays he's the perfect replacement for hall...the fact that he's been injured for most of the season is neither here nor there

bradshaw cannot be called a failure, so far it hasn't "worked", there are still 2 years to go...if it doesn't work out, the bradshaw gamble didn't come off...but that's what it was, a gamble...we knew he was injury plagued when we got him, we knew there was a chance he'd go down again...but he was the best available forward option, and he didn't cost us anything...hence why i don't think we can call it a failure, just a shame

It's not really a point that really helps or hinders my view in this discussion, but since he has become a very good FF (in 2000 when he had his first 50 goals plus year, kicking 56) this is the first year in which he will play less than 19 games (disregarding 2007 in which he did his ACL and hence played zero games). That's a pretty good record, dunno if he can be called injury plagued really.

But as i said, that's really kind of a side-note to this discussion.

yeah, but there's a difference between overcoming injuries in your mid 20's and doing so in your 30's, they take longer to heal + other injuries start adding up and your body just can't cope with the rigors of professional sport week in week out...lets hope that 2010 was just a bad year and he has a better run in the next couple...

i'd actually rather be developing younger player. Bradshaw, IMO has distracted us from that, as good as he is/was.

I'd rather develop a fit young potential FF than a known injury prone FF who 'might' get up or he might not.

but that's the thing, roos hasn't played a potential FF even with bradshaw out for much of the season...that's a question i've asked myself throughout the season...

there's 2 reasons i've come up with... either the coaching staff don't believe anyone's ready for it yet...or they don't want to blood too many youngsters at the same time and are opting to play established players up forward instead ...if it's not either of those reasons i have no idea

nah he has been a failure, honestly, he is nearing the end of his career, and yes he has had a good one at the lions, but now he is just injury prone and won't play a full season, it interrupts the side, a kid who is playing well still has to make way for Bradshaw, who will never be 100% fit, trust me

Another sensible post 120, i don't need to reply to the other.

no please do

Jason Akermanis names Swans Kirk, O'Keefe as 2010 disappointments

Swans great Bob Skilton and coach Paul Roos have defended Brett Kirk after Jason Akermanis named the Sydney skipper among the biggest disappointments of 2010.

"The oldest of warriors, Brett Kirk has always had the same weakness. No speed," Akermanis wrote.

"It now looks like his team can't keep covering for him any longer. He is tough and well respected."

"Kirky has great hands, but the game moves past us all."

Roos said Akermanis had taken aim at two of Sydney's most respected players and that his opinion carried no weight at all.

"I think it probably says more about Aker than it does about Kirky to be honest," Roos said.
