AFL Club
Richmond
What do people think of him? A lot of posters on he seem to think that because he was thrown into the number one ruck spot early on due to injury within the team, he will break down early in his career, which is a very good point and the medical staff will need to keep an eye on him, but it could work the other way too. Dean Cox was young and untried, albeit a bit bigger when he started because of Gardiner's injuries. It did him the world of good and now he's one of the best players in the comp. Can Patto become a first rate ruckman of the AFL?

Also, nicest guy at the club and his heart is only headed by Richo's. Absolutely loves the club.

I think Patto has lots of potential even away from the Ruck position. He needs another 4 or 5 kg because he is always playing against monster opposition so it will help. He is able to take pack marks and has good football smarts along with fantastic endurance. With this in mind i think he still has hope in playing a role down forward. We need him to improve his kicking a bit but a promising youngster

I have no doubt he is a AFL level player as he dominates the lower level VFL competition when you review his stats.

Patto will be a worthy 2nd ruck, great kid who was a good solid pickup and will get a career on heart and workrate.

It's surprise me greatly if he became a quality no.1 ruck, but anything is possible if you're willing to work hard - and he is. A slight lack of height is one of the major things he'll have to overcome, but strength, bulk, technique and leap are all things that can help a lot.

I think the jury is still out on him.

I can't see him being a first rate ruckman, at least not against the big boys. Can't really see him presenting up forward. I love the bloke as he tries his heart out and seems like a legend but I am not yet sold as to where he will fit in with a grand final team

He's the kind of guy that makes me cry, a few times this year he kicked a goal in tight games and just got so damn pumped, ran around but it wasn't show ponying, it was pure emotion. I love that in a player.

when i think about him, his passion and work rate reminds me of justin charles in a way. i used to love JC, just shattered he had to be a scapegoat for the AFL on the steroids charge. Patto will be alright

Think back to the last quarter Vs. Adelaide he was doing the ruck on his own and won hands down and had the momentum swing our way until Richo face got smashed. Patto is a 150+ games player and a one club player.

Could be a good CHB with his endurance where he can just run straight at the ball and doesn't need the same agility as a CHF does who plays with his back to the goals. He has come along in leaps and bounds though this year.

amazing how everyone was bagging dermie when he said patto was an in-betweener and would struggle to make it and now those same people are struggling to find him a position

not big enough to ever be a 1st ruck, not enough talent and skill to be a genuine gun forward

dont mind patto seems like a good kid but he's going to struggle to be anything other than a goer imo

Adam Pattison will be a 1st class second ruck if you know what I mean.

I can't ever see him being our first ruck simply because he struggles to win enough hit outs, but that might come. He is bassically another linking midfielder along the centre and he is a very good handballer. His kicking needs to be worked on, esspecailly his kicking for goal.

I think he will be a player, just needs to work on his kicking and his contesting of hitouts.

Far, far superior to Angus Graham

Hard not to like Patto.
All footy clubs need his type... may not have the most talent but works his arse off, loves the place, a bit of a character.
He has got the "Best Clubman" award sown up for the next few years.

TW stated last year that Patto was the next CHF.......Now when he is kicking for goal he is tired and thats why his style isnt the best...Once he settles into this position you will see why Terry said this would be the best position for him,he will be an absolute gun once he puts on a little more weight

I can't believe some of you guys actually think he is strong overhead. He very rarely takes contested marks even though he quite often gets in the right position. Maybe this will change in time... My other criticism is i believe he might be one of those inbetween players - not able to nail a set position. He definately isnt a first ruck at this stage and is too slow to play CHB, and i believe too weak overhead ot play CHF. Still i hope he develops as his work ethic is second to none and considering we got him and Danny Myers for Brad Ottens we desperately need one of them to be decent.

You obviously didnt see Patto much this year but i thought he took alot of strong contested marks and will be a gun. This is what Royal said about Patto.
All in all it was pleasing to see Adam play 18 games as our No.1 ruckman – he did a great job. I don’t think he is going to be a No.1 ruckman, but I think what this year has done for Adam has given him an enormous amount of confidence and belief he can play at AFL level. I think he can be a very good centre half-forward for us because he is an extremely hard worker and a terrific kid.

So i think we can mark down that Patto will be our long term CHF.
Just needs to improve his goal kicking and will be fine....:thumbsu:

im unsure wether Patto will be our 1st ruck or 2nd ruck for the future but he has the potential to be an excellent ruck around the ground, and in the future i believe he will hurt many sides with his abillity to run other ruckmen off their feat. One thing i noticed in the last few games this year was that when Patto was not in the ruck we struggled and when he got put back in the middle we lifted. He seems like a good hard working bloke and maybe captain material in the future.
