On paper North should win but in reality maybe Hawthorn have already won?

Our brutal start to the season has demoralised our playing group, I fear.

Our opponents in the first 5 weeks have a combined win/loss record of 19/6. And 3 of those 6 losses are Brisbane, last year's grand finalist who have started the season slowly.

Sigh.

I’ll vote for us to win with absolutely no confidence.

Hawks are the more mature side they have way more senior players and players in that 100-150 games range.

We will need to be switched on and tackle hard.

I have hyped this up as a grand final as for everyone involved at North and the supporters we need a win desperately for morale if anything.

I'm not confident but I have to believe some how we will get the job done.

North by 3-4 goals

Last round North had 5 players in that bracket to Hawthorn’s 2.

Hawthorn had 3 more players in the 150-200 game bracket.

Hawthorn had 12 players under 50 games, North had 13.

I wonder if the Draw was different and we had a soft serve of Weagles/Hawks and caught an Adelaide or Richmond along with a genuine top 8 team. After 5 rounds we’re say 2 - 3 with a couple of close losses. We then face what we have had in the first 5 and go 2 - 8. I imagine the pile on would be the same as what we had last year when we were in that exact same position (less Clarko coaching around then). We certainly have an easier draw later on, and with some more games into the newbies, then we might start gelling and get away with 3-4 wins by season’s end. I would 100% take that right now if offered. Chom, Biggie and Dawson to secure the defence with Logue to join them in 2 months. Hopefully we sort out the midfield with some decent coaching and our Captains start showing more leadership and form……if they are still being picked 😎. Highlights for me this year so far:
  1. Comden’s first 2 games. Can clunk a mark.
  2. Paul Curtis up front. Can also clunk them (The Don’t Argue on Parfitt was special).
  3. Tom Powell’s growth each week.
  4. Sheezel - enuff said.
  5. Drury’s brace yesterday.
  6. Biggy’s debut. Was not overawed and had every right to be. Sure he missed a few kicks, but no more than other more experienced players (Simpkin/Corr/Scott).
  7. Dawson down back.
