Here is an interesting little philosophy I heard the other day.
We all know AFL 2002, how much better it was than last year and the year before that. Now think back a hundred years, if there was any AFL game, it would have comprised some piece of cardboard, some cut paper players and a dice to introduce some randomness to the game. This game has developed to where it is today, and it will keep developing.
In a hundred years time, the game will be sooo much more advanced, old fashioned screens will be relics in the museum. In fact clunky aparatus will almost be gone forever, instead we'll play in virtual reality. Now go forward another 100 years, quantum computers, far more powerful than is comprehesible today will be around and very likely affordable. So what then.
Games such as AFL and Sims will be combined, artificial intelligence will populate a virtual universe where individual units within the games go around totally independently because they believe they are real.
And the point being? Are we already living such an existence? It is highly likely that we could develop such systems, infact we almost certainly have. Unless existence ends in some catacalysmic fireball, then such games will be common place, which means this reality is 99.9% likely just to be some sort of game fabrication rather than living in orignal history.
So what to do about it, well keeping the game master interested might be a start, when you play games the interesting ones thrive, but unfortunately quite often die unusual deaths too. Keeping a low profile might mean being turned off when not needed. Hope that that the main game master likes you so much, that he/she applies the cheat codes to you.
