Apart from the various posters who I'm sure will see this and assume it's about the (moderately) famous pornstar, is this the best Steely Dan album that was produced? I'm a huge Dan fan and mainly because my musical tuition and upbringing was jazz and fusion orientated, but I was interested in getting other peoples (in the know) thoughts. I'm of the opinion that this is the album where Fagen/Becker really came into their own combining life experiences, musical nous and lyric genius.

I love the Can't buy a thrills, Pretzel logics, Katy lieds and Gauchos but I thought musically (with trying to keep a commercial flavour in mind) this was their best effort. Some of the great jazz/fusion session players and muso's at the time in Wayne Shorter, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Victor Feldman and Chuck Rainey all contributed. I know the 70's are long gone (even though Steely Dan are still going strong) but they're one of the greater groups who combined musicality and commerciality and came up with hits. Was interested to know peoples opinions, particularly regarding Aja.
