Tough one.
Stoneham is now involved with Essendon and a good mate of Timmy Watson. Left us when we needed him. not sure of the story here. Probably was a bit young to see Stoneham closely.
Atkins only a star because of Wynd but was helping out at Werribee last year. Wheeler put him on a pedestal.
Currently I'd go for Atkins.
Peter Fetherby was better than both as centremen.

Featherby was brilliant but we only had him for a year or two.
We traded Featherby for a 17 yo called Paul Hood. 6' 5", could jump, mark, kick, had it all - until he broke his ankle and practically gave it away. Never played a game with us.

I thought Featherby left because he claimed he didn't like Bill Goggin then went to play for him at Geelong! People like JG think the club is unprofessional now, just look at the 70s for a better model!

The admin of the 60/70's (especially 70's) have much to answer for. They are the Genesis of our inherent problems of today.
Our board of then was basically made up of ex-footballers trying to be businessmen - guys like Jack Collins and Charlie Sutton
Atkins for mine, but close. Stoneham showed heaps of potential at the Doggies, but never really fulfilled it in my opinion.

I go for Axe....behind in skill but more G&D and gave us plenty of drive.
