In recent times there has been lots of discussion about what should be done with fev, our trade and draft period, and our much publicised membership slogan by the carlton fans
Personally feel as if we should just get fev help to stay off the beer, cos whenever he is not drinking he is such a valuable person in a sporting sense and in the community. People who think he should be traded because they are sick of him, be careful what you wish for. We are lucky to have one of the few players who can turn a game single-handedly and can truly terrorise opposition. To see us having to man him up next season would be truly detrimental plus the whole board i think want him there and are just trying to express a bit of a tough stance to "please the media" you could say.
In terms of our trading: secure mclean b/c tht is wat we need and your better off trading this pick 11 for a ready made player who is still pretty young in a footballing sense. Its a better chance for success than an unknown 18 year old, no matter what decisions are made, they are all a risk(remember us when pagan signed). Do not trade unless we really need to like maybe have a go at a fish for maguire swap but don't go making unnecessary moves that aren't required. Not sure what the concerns about our defence are as we have : Austin, t-bird, jamo, bower and waite who can all be key men down there at certain times, i have also seen setanta play pretty well on the likes of j.brown to so he could be moulded to play there when need be. Also, think about it deeply, how many teams have top heavy fwd lines, these days it is all small mid sized range players up there. Brisbane, saints and maybe adelaide are the only teams who really have multiple big guys up there. Look at us and we could have Fev, Waite and Kreuze up there which could be a lot more potent than the others. Also, teams like wce and geelong have won premierships with awesome mids and solid fwds and backs so we are well established in that facet.
Finally with our membership slogan, it needs to be short and sweet that clearly establishes our intentions and instills a bit of fear into the competition and preferably oozes a little bit of that famed carlton arrogance
