Yes its true Orlando have just arrived believe it or not all the hype that was surrounding this team is finnaly been goven some justification.
With another win againts the Bucks 111-99 and Mcgrady scoring 48 as well as the 2 newly acquired rookies Gooden 26 points and Girciek 15 points there gonna be a team thats gonna cause some of the bigger Western conferance and top Eastern teams some trouble.
NBA you have been warned the Magic show is arriving.

i think d.gooden had 16rbs to go with those points...
what a nice FA re-pickup he's been for my fantasy team after dropping him earlier...

be warned? sheesh.. get another big, then try again...

Spot on.

They're struggling to make the playoffs in the shockingly shallow East, yet people are talking them up as genuine contenders. Extraordinary.

Ill agree that they havent lived up to expectations atm but any side missing a bloke who can put up some preety handy numbers like Grant Hill 17ppg 8rpg are gonna be disadvantage.I also agree that we do need another big man Dale Davis???? but i also think that the time has come for this team to start delievering and since these 2 rooks have come we have improved markedly and i think we are able to start to contend with the likes of Dallas,Spurs,Lakers and Nets.
Your thoughts thanks boys??

Hill was always going to be a toss of the coin and you`ll never get far against the big boys with all your eggs in the one TMac basket. He`ll get his points, but the Magic will be lucky to get past the first round.

IMO the Orlando Magic can beat anyone in the East. They have gone 6-1 since Gooden and Giricek arrived but they will have no hope of beating the Lakers, Kings, Spurs or Mavs .... hell even the Blazers and T-Wolves should handle the Magic in the NBA Finals.

Gooden and Giricek have turned this ball club on it's head and if Hill was healthy they would be genuine championship contenders, but without Hill they are just Eastern Conference contenders.

In the offseason they need to find another solid bigman and they could do big things next season.

Hill has now said he is out for the season.

Orlando seriously needs to look at a centre, and get some defensive presence. They have been allowing opponents to shoot at 45.4% on the season. Won't be a serious championship contender until they start playing D.

As long as we have mcgrady in the line up were preety dangerous today he out scored Denver 37-32 him self thats a joke.
Very true we need a strong inside presence and were 1 man away from being serious championship contenders, but i wouldnt be suprised to see us do a bit better in the playoffs than expected because we do have a dangerous line up that given a good day could beat anyone.
Do you think with Orlango getting Gooden and Girciek that this is the End for Hill????
could he be going elsewere or is this injury career threating???
cheers

I don't think any of the East's better teams would fear Orlando, or even consider them "dangerous".

When the McGrady led Magic win more then 1 playoff game a year, and improve their playoff record from the current 2-6, then people might start taking them seriously.

If Hill plays more than two games in a row people might......

Gooden and Giriciek have been good additions, but P&P is right. They don`t hold too many fears for the big boys.

IMO with the way the Nets, Pacers and Pistons have been playing of late and how much better T-Mac has become this season then they would be silly not to fear the Magic or at least Tracy McGrady!

The Orlando Magic are the East sleepers IMO.

Geez what a fully fit Grant Hill could do to boost the East.

However, Kobe has Shaq, Duncan has Parker and Robinson, Webb has Stojakovic and the other 4 guys who have 10 + a game, and Nowitzki has Nash and Finley.

There's no way T Mac (or any man) can carry that load

No one fears the Magic???

We beat the Nets, twice.

I think they will fear us come playoff time.

If they are the best team in the East well why wouldnt anyone else be fearful of the Magic?

With the G-Force now up and running (thanks Mr West) and T-Mac the most unstoppable player in the league along with Kobe and KG, geez why wouldnt anyone take us seriously!!!

I still dont think we are capable to take out the East (this year) we do lack some tough interior defence and depth but if the right moves are made in the offseason we will be a very solid contender!!!

Gooden and T-Mac is an awesome inside outside tandem and Girichek gives us what Miller did plus more defence and better % shooting, so I think that trade has upgraded us a lot!

Again, thanks Mr West ;) :D .

The team best poised to make a run at the East next year is Detroit... If Memphis doesn't get the number one pick, I assume the Pistons will be able to take that pick... hence landing one of Carmelo Anthony, Darko Milicic, Chris Bosh et al.

Detroit, what!?

P&P, if you could confirm the details (protection) of the Memphis/Detroit pick, I'd be quite chuffed.

OK, here we go. The pick that Detroit can take from Memphis is top 1 protected in 2003, and has no protection in 2004. Would Detroit get to see how the lottery pans out before making their decision?

Once the lottery has been played out then the Pistons IIRC can choose whether to act on their pick. Memphis have first protected though so if Memphis are lucky enough to claim the number 1 pick then Detroit have to wait until 2004.

I think Detroit will definitely take Memphis pick this year if it is somewhere in the top 5 because the Grizz should get better next year so Detroit's pick is only going to get lower and lower.

Detroit will take the pick this year because they lose theirs to Sacta.

Whilst its not good for my Grizz, we do get both Houston's first pick and Orlando's first pick, so its not all bad.

Yes, and one of those could be used to pick up one of the many white-boy PGs coming out of college this year.
