Do any of you guys rate him. From what I have seen he looks alright. He just needs to put on a bit of bulk.

the dogs would love him.

i dont think he is soft, he is lathargic (sic?)

he has similar mannerisms as fraser who people thought was soft. fraser left because he was getting bagged and he turned out to be quality. even though he did get AA for us.

I can tell you categorically that Eade would not have him near the place. Why? because he is a mental squib!

I think he is the best thing to a full forward we have at the moment. However I have to say that he is pretty soft. He bulked up by plenty during the break but he doesn't seem to be any tougher. He is only young and still quite inexperienced though so as time goes on he should toughen up a bit and make full forward his own.

I really like your evidence that you always provide. Great case!

What are you on about goose? is the provision of evidence now a requirement for every post? perhaps it's some new rule that I'm not aware of.

Why didn't he get rid of Jade Rawlings?

As a junior he had a scholarship with the AIS and IMO he is very much an athlete playing football. There is no denying his athletic ability, esp for someone that tall, but his football skills are actually pretty good. If he was playing FF he would certainly be holding on to more chess marks than Q. Lynch currently is. His goal kicking lets him down though but many young tall players struggle with goal kicking. He has taken time to mature but he was very young when drafted and very skinny so he was always going to take time to mature. Some people call him soft. I think its more a case of taking time to get comfortable at AFL level. He is going through a similar phase to what Trent Croad did before he was traded to the Dockers. People called Trent out as soft but he just needed time to mature as a football player. Croad is playing good football now. McDougall will be the same. Like Croad he is a confidence player and being injured his confidence is down at the moment but I expect him to get healthy and be back in the team kicking goals before too long.

He'll be fine... once his confidence and fitness is on track. Still our best prospect for FF, and most clubs would be happy for a 21 year old FF to kick 35 goals.

My concern about McDougall is that he might have an issue with attitude.

One of the things that impressed me about Jamie Graham last week and in the course of the pre-season is that he looks as though he's come to play.

Way to early to call yet but he strikes me as having good focus, awareness and commitment.

I don't have a strong sense of that with McDougall - not yet at any rate.

Totally agree. He is still our best full forward option, but I have doubts over his heart muscle. Definitely a confidence player as well, I actually think this probably would have been a good game to bring him back for. Hansen will be taking the #1 defender, and the Dogs are pretty thin down back, so Doogs could probably pop up and kick a few. Give him some confidence to take to Brisbane.

I think Doogs is like a lot pure KPP forwards

They tend to have bad body language when things are not going well

IMO

Being fully fit with a decent injury run would lead to greater confidence and would therefore show his true ability

i've been watching a few games from last year and he looks quite impressive, I don't know why we are all baggin him now, really for a 21 year his second half last year was pretty outstanding. If we can get him on the park for the rest of the year I think you'll find he is probably our full forward answer. Give him a bit of time to recover from his injury and gain confidence back and I think the rest of this year and the next few years he should do well. I am fairly confident by next year or the year after he will be a full forward capable of kicking 40 - 50 goals a year.
