Andrew Thompson

Can someone please tell me why the Saints used Fraser Gehrig as acting captain last night when I am sure they were promoting Andrew Thompson for the job next season? Did I miss something? I'm sure Thommo would have had a leadership role last night anyway, but it seemed strange to me.

Everitt was captain last week, Hamill the week before, Thompson before that.

As they haven't got an official vice captain, it is being rotated, as part of this overall strategy of developing many leaders in the club.

My own opinion is that Thompson deserves the gong next year.
