Well I did a silly thing last night. I went to the football expecting to win. I know I should never do that with Melbourne. It just amazed me the difference a week can make. In comparison with last week they were weak and pathetic.
The game certainly was not helped by inept umpires who should have retired by now (ie Kennedy) Two of Ottens golas in the first quarter came from silly free kicks, one from a 50 metre penalty which was not necessary. The worst one was when Knights got a free right in front of goal for ABSOLOUTLY NOTHING. What was Broadbridge meant to do? Decisions like this have to affect their confidence.
Also, why was that first quarter so long? It went on and on. It went for over 37 minutes and I reckon Richmond got three goals in the last three minutes.
That second quarter was the worst football they played all year and that is saying something. It was pathetic.
By that stage the match was over. The players are lacking alot of confidence. For example Brad Green should have had a shot at goal when he had the chance, he chose to pass it off and there was a turnover. Woey should have had a shot at goal instead passed it off. Schwarz and Woey were both there to pick up the ball, left to each other and it was stolen. That would be just three of many.
Their passing is atrocious and they refuse to take the best option.
So much for praising the coach last week, He did nothing tonight. Although it was hard as the players were flat and had no passion.

i agree. i agree with EVERYTHING you said.
that was one of the most dissapointing matches i've been to in a while. we went in there with a chance to make something, and came out with NOTHING!! we were pathetic!
i wouldn't be suprised if for the 2nd quarter, grgic turned into every player, and played! thats how bad it was!!!
finally, the dees started to pick up late in the final quarter, but it was just too late.
pathetic, just pathetic. :( :( :( :( i just don't get it!
oh well, there goes the whole season!

GO DEES (they don't deserv exclemation marks today.)

Its really sad that the Dees have fallen away..

I was at the Storm game with an earpiece in...so I had a doubly bad night...however, at least Storm had some excuses..heaps of injuries and playing the best team.

Anyway, I was going to come down to the "G' for the last half, but after hearing the scores, felt too depressed!! So instead, we all went to the social club and had a few drinks. There were a few Dees at the game too...who must do as I do...

I have posted before...and you guys probably do not agree with everything ...but I feel our players our over-rated (not all..but many) and I think its time to make a few hard decisions...and not to far down the track...about the coach too.!!

But as usual, I bet our football club doesn't...and that s why we are not a long term successful club...only when John Northey was there.

What do you guys think??????

Yes what a night. The Storm and the Dees losing. But the Storm lost by more than the Demons, they must have been bad':('.
Our players are Inconsistent. They showed what they could do last year but they are not doing it this year. So on that basis they can be overrated. I think changes will be made at the end of the year. Last year Melbourne was the only club not to trade and look what has happened. The coach had better improve as well or he could be in trouble.

Another thing I want to add is the game plan. Last week against Carlton they were long and direct through the centre. On Friday night it was back to the old style of chipping it around going out wide changing from side to side. It was like the Dockers game plan of a few years ago. IT DOESN'T WORK. Go up the centre corridor and things will be better.

Yes I do agree with you Dees01

This year our style of play reverted to the chipping game and almost "Balme" like. It helps if you are playing with confidence too...but this year we have been plagued by injuries ..so things have not gone to plan.

I wonder how long we have to go on this rollercoaster ride...up one year...down the next...its truly unbelievable!!

I suspect ND, if we have another miserable year, will not last as our coach.:o

Cheers
