yes. obviously ruud should have been banned for avoiding vieira's kick
i don't think he made a meal of it at all.

Don't think he made a meal of it? He threw himself to one side and then pointed to Viera as he looked at the ref.

I'm not saying the Arsenal guys didn't deserve a suspension. But there were two sides out there and to suggest their reaction to RVN missing the penalty was totally out of the blue is a bit far fetched.

My reading of that incident (and I'm neutral in the sense that I hate both sides) was that Vieira tried to kick RVN, who evaded the kick. If he hadn't, I think the ref would have had to give PV a straight red rather than a second yellow? Yes, RVN looked at the ref, but I wouldn't say he made a meal of it or tried to get the player sent off.

imo, for him to have 'made a meal of it' he would have had to go down as though vieira had made contact. there's players around who would have done it.

nobody is saying the arsenal reaction was out of the blue. they felt rvn had contributed to vieira's sending off. they should have directed their anger toward vieira, who cost them any chance of winning the game.

...that does seem harsh. Individual players may get their sentences reduced on appeal, I would guess.

To be honest I'm pretty relieved, after the initial witch hunt it looked like they were all going to get long bans.

As I mentioned earlier Rufus Brevett got a slap on the wrist for punching someone during the scuffle at the end of the Bolton West Ham game last season so put against that if you take each players case individually it probably is harsh but I'v reached a point where I don't expect Arsenal players to be dealt with by the same standards that are applied elsewhere (maybe our own fault).

As it is Lauren is the only real problem & if we get our other right back Voltz back from loan at Fulham it may turn out for the best as we'll get a chance to see what he can do(my suspicion is that he's better than Lauren already).

Keown's injured & so his ban probably won't count for much, Vieira is injured so likewise & Parlour misses one game which we can cope with.

All in all could have been worse, the funniest thing is the fine, England/The FA get fined £4k by UEFA for a punch up in the tunnel whilst the FA then fine Arsenal £175k for acting like a bunch of arses.

Well I think that tecnically that Vieira merited a booking just for kicking out like that but I think the issue of whether RvN made a meal of it is that it appears that the kick would never have actually reached him, it was more a kick in his direction or a kick at his 'space'.
So by jumping away like that in exagerated fashion I think it's fair to say that he did try to influence the referee rather than take evasive action because he could have evaded it just as well by standing totally still.

PS did you notice we got fined more than your lot did for a full scale punch up with Leeds a couple of years ago, when they asked a member of the Arsenal board about the fairness of it he mumbled 'Well that's inflation I suppose':D

You think Arsenal are hard done by. I think they get what they deserve most of the time.

I'd like to see what the FA would do if Van Nisteldive and his ****y friend Ronaldo did the same thing to Henry. Answer? Absolutely NOTHING.
