Does anyone else here like artworks? It’s practically my favourite thing (music just pips it). I love seeing how other people see the world.

I’m going to have to apologise because photos from the internet are often bad on seeing the original colours which are really important. But we make do.

This is a favourite of mine. I saw it in the museum of modern art New York. It was just visiting in a Joan Miro exhibition, I don’t think it lives there all the time. I like all of Miro’s works. Possibly because one of his paintings was called “Red and Blue”. Anyway, this one is Harlequin’s Carnival. It’s a slightly hazy version because it’s one of those little thumbnail pictures from wiki, but the colours are more authentic then other reproductions I’ve seen.

I'm a massive gallery nerd, I'll visit pretty much every exhibition at Heidi, NGV etc.
I've stayed at the accommodation onsite at MONA, love the Canberra museum too.
I don't remember Sydney's gallery sorry Scythe, I was there just before the grand final too.

I love all the greats- miro, dali, picasso, but I got a little dude so my interest recently has gravitated to people who draw heavy metal record covers, horror/sci-fi artists, and comicbook/pop art/street artists. I also really like tattoo flash art too.

Recent things I liked have been: Keiichi Tanaami, Jaime Valderrama, Roger Dean (guy who did all the Yes album covers), Greg Crayola Simpkins, loads of Australian artists- Rhys Lee is the first one that comes to mind.

I used to have an amazing coffee table type book with the great album covers. Several Yes albums in there, actually there were so many incredible album covers around the time. I just need to listen to all the albums.

I wish I still had that book. It was a ripper. I wouldn’t have ever thrown it away so I assume I lost possession in some kind of romantic split up where you divvy up the possessions really quickly. This would explain also why I have any number of CDs that I’m sure I would never buy myself.

I will look for that book online - maybe it is on eBay somewhere. I just hope it’s called something obvious like Great Album Covers.

I have a few framed prints of Joy Hester’s work in my home. I’ve dragged them around with me for decades now. I have to find the right spots for her stuff because partner PG gets unsettled and thinks they are looking at him.

When I first moved to Melbourne I lived in Robe Street, St Kilda for a few years and was quite excited to discover that Joy Hester lived there in the bohemian days, and well before it, the “For the Term of his Natural Life” guy Marcus Clarke. Also a few other famous names but not so famous that I remember who they are right now.

Ohh, I love Joy!
"Partner TA" has lots of Mirka Mora's prints around the house, so I get a little bit of that St Kilda vibe out here in the sticks too.
So weird going past St Kilda these days, it used to seem so vibrant, it's a bit dead now, still a little bit scummy tho.

I've posted this before but it's relevant here! I get Woody is a little bit problematic but this is still for me one of the funniest things ever committed film:

Hey Toump Ass

I dunno if you will like this, but I know you are a procreate fan.

I started a graphic drawing of a Troll family - months back really. I’m doing it for SFA Trolls.

Unfortunately work and life got so busy that I’m only part-way through, and paused for a long time, but I have 4 weeks leave (finally!) starting Friday afternoon so I’m going to get really stuck in and finish it then. This is how I’m going so far:

Oh my god PG, that's so good! I'm so jealous of your skills.

The rendering on the guy on the right looks so good, I can't wait to see it when it's finished.
I got a similar work in progress but it's utter trash compared to this lmao. This is also very inspiring though, thank you!

Procreate is great. The ability to try something in a new layer and then, if it doesn’t work, just remove it from show is a game changer!

I used to sketch a fair bit when I was younger, but sketching is a bit tricky since you’re pretty much stuck with whatever you put on the page

Yeah it's amazing, I can't imagine how awesome it would be to have grown up with something like that. I used to use one of those wacom tablets and it was so clunky. Only thing I want to get for my Ipad is one of those screen protectors that feel like paper though, and see if it feels a bit more natural. I still start all my things on paper and then move it into Procreate for messing around.

Me too. I saw some stuff a friend did with the paper screen pad and not only is it easier to use, it can make the image look like more of a paper drawing. So you can pretend it was a paper sketch rather than a laboured effort and impress your friends.
