Ash cloud forfeits & Supercoach

So there's air travel chaos around Oz at the moment and no guarantee things will be any different come the weekend. So of course this got me thinking about the serious issues: SuperCoach.
6 of the 8 games this weekend require at least 1 team to use air-travel. There appears a possibility some teams may not be able to make their match this week. What the hell happens to SuperCoach? Week null and void - league forfeited, scores not accumulating on the overall? Scores only for players who played? Players average score assigned should they miss.
Interested to hear everyone's thoughts.

Haha... I'm sure Port (playing in Perth), Richmond (already come back from Syd and going to Bris) and GC (in Tas v Hawks) would be thrilled with the idea.

Experts were quite damming of the over zealous shutdowns as a result of the icelandic volcanoes.

Ash can cause some problems if the particles are in a dense enough cluster but that is extremely unlikely and even if it did cause some problems planes would not start falling out of the sky.

As shown by our government ministers who flew by RAAF planes so as to attend parliament.

CASA isn't stopping the planes flying - look at Virgin and international flights flying as normal. At the moment it's being done on a per airline basis.

The last study done indicated significant abrasion to engines, which could theoretically cause planes to drop from the sky if enough damage is done. Obviously it isn't going to come to that, but it's a potential outcome.

The major concern is ash getting in the engines and being melted by the intense heat which then goes on to clog vital parts which causes the engines to shut down.

There was a plane a while back that had all four engines shut down and the only reason they were able to restart them was because the ash had solidified from cooling down and had broken off freeing up the engines. This was before airlines knew about ash clouds. That plane had actually turned around after going through the ash cloud, to land from where it took off, and as a result went through it again. They were pretty lucky they were able to land.

Well a typical plane can glide at about 15:1 so it's not all doom and gloom if the engines cut out, unless you have nowhere to land nearby!
