Fall Out Boy

Surprised to see a few Eagles fans throwing his name up as trade bait, but glad all the same.

Geelong seem pretty keen on him and i can understand why. Very smart and talented footballer.

What type are West Coast looking for, and what would you want from Geelong for him?

Matthew Scarlett :D

Seriously any half decent tall defender would be good, but I'm not sure what the story with Hansen is. Apparently he was re-signed to a 2 year deal this year, so I'm not so sure he is available.

Did Woosh just give Ash games to try and get him to re-sign with us? To me, games seemed like the only thing that wuda kept Ash in the west for any longer!

Not saying he didn't deserve the games or is going/is a dud!

Unfortunately we have absolutely no depth in tall defenders behind Scarlett and Harley.

One of your supporters said he re-signed a month or so back on our board, but i did a search and there was no mention of it, both on here and through google.

He deserved a couple of games, but I don't think he is ever going to be our CHF. Personally I reckon he is worth a shot at FF - nice size and doesn't have to be as accountable (his biggest weakness).

I'm still dubious myself, but I think it was West Coast Stre / Streaker who is usually on the money.

The person who mentioned it on our board was a chick.

Bit early to tell on CHF isn't it Jabber?

Shouldn't we get the bloke on the park for at least half a season before we make the call?

He maybe 21 but in terms of the amount of footy he's played - he's effectively only about 18 or 19.

He's had a couple of seasons with the black ducks, and should understand the basics of manning up. I'm basing my opinion on the only 2 senior games I have personally seen him play live, where he refused to man up on his opponent and earned his possessions as a result of an opposition turnover after his opponent had run off him.
He is still young, but will need to improve that area of his game if Woosha is going to be impressed.

Hansen and Staker both signed on the same day. It was in the West Australian not long ago. The West Australian no longer archives it's stories since they updated to the "pay to view" format.

Unfortunately, we probably don't need what you have an excess of - quick, small running players.

I guess if you can get us a South Aussie we can pass on for Stenglein....

Yeah I agree. Most of his goals (especially in that 4 goal haul) were on turnovers or from roving McDougall and Seaby in making contests.

He is no doubt a strong leading player, but is probably too similar to McDougall and Staker and would be behind both of those two IMO. He would struggle to even get a look in if both Gardiner and Gaspar were fit, as they both offer something a bit different.

I wouldn't want to trade Hansen. IMO bar Gardiner, he is our best future prospect for CHF at the moment, and that's including Gasper. I also clearly remember hearing on the radio that he re-signed for another 2 years anyway.

We actually don't have many "quick, small running players".

We are still looking to add speed to our midfield, but we're overflowing with big, hard at it midfielders.

I must'nt have been watching the right Geelong sames this yeay - your leg speed looked like a assett to me.

Maybe we could interest you in Callum Chambers then?

In terms of Geelong, Henry Playfair looks a pretty good utility tall player, whom i'd consider a similar talent to Hansen.

But as you said Geelong are in dire straights in terms of tall defenders, and probably just couldn't afford to trade Playfair.

But in any case, it does seem as if Hansen has re-signed with the club.....

Hansen won't be traded and can't be traded under the CBA because he just signed a contract.

would love brent moloney, although we dont really need him. we were super keen when you guys pinched him from under our noses in the pre season draft. he was training with us at the time.

that's right. It was in the pre-game section of the West about a month ago but the archives are no longer accessable for free and i don't think any of the other papers picked the story up.

Is Joel Corey one of your "spare" midfielders??
A WA boy who may like to return home!
How about Paul Johnson (instead of Hansen) and Callum Chambers (although Callum is one of my favourite players ).

I for one actually thought Hansen looked pretty good at CHF in the few games that he played.... i rate him above Johnson and would try him at CHF for a good chunk of next season to see if he's capable of playing there

Injured his ankle today unfortunately, seems to be a bit of a recurring theme with Ash (along with a certain T Gaspar)

I think next year Woosh will look to run with Hansen at CHF, McDougall at FF and Gardy in the forward pocket.

Geez Hansen is a thumping kick, slotted one home from 55m off one step, and his accuracy is certainly not a concern.

In today's Herald Sun there was a Trade Teaser suggesting that Melbourne send Steven Armstrong and pick #29 to West Coast for Ashley Hansen.

IMO this is a pretty good deal although changing pick #29 to pick#45 would probably make it more even as Armstrong is a bit more proven than Hansen and is also a year younger.
