Audio CD - Laptop Issue (HELP!)

I have a problem in that some of my audio CD's (legally purchased) can't be read through my laptop.

Every time that occurs the CD drive renames itself a DVD drive.

How can I stop this happening?

Buy CDs that don't have bastard evil copy protection on them.
Boycott artists and record labels that choose to ******** their consumers.

The bizarre thing is that two of the CD's that I can't play (or rip) are Stephen Cummings from the Acoustic Blue series, however all the other CD's I have from that series play (and rip) perfectly, and the other is the Australian Crawl disc from the definitve Australian Crawl/James Reyne CD, yet the James Reyne CD plays perfectly!

I'm definitely confused......

That doesn't sound like a copyright protection issue.

Drop the CD in, and right-click the drive.
Hit Autoplay.
What happens?

I put the disc in, but it doesn't show up as being inserted in the laptop.

WMP keeps telling me to insert an audio-cd.

Is there a warning on the CD booklet that says something like "this CD contains copy protection, yadda yadda yadda"?
