I'm just unclear what you think anyone can learn from a recalcitrant thug???

You are aware that the club has a "qualified" coaching staff ... although they have failed miserably with Barry, I know who I want "teaching" these youngsters.

Oh come on let's move away from this "thug" thing we know that.
He is a very good forward, knows how to position himself, has a good lead and you are an idiot if you dont admit that.

I am aware they have "qualified" coaching staff but are you aware Barry has "experience"

We need to put him on a dis-incentive based contract.

Every free kick he gives away = dock $100
Every 50m penalty = dock $1000
Every time he punches someone = dock $10000

I'm sorry that you have missed the important points.

He is a repeat offender.

He will be suspended for what he did today.

He is a liability.

He will not learn.

What if ... we did well enough to make a final this year and he gets baited again, like today ... ?

... oh and just because he can play a position, don't mean he can teach anyone else ... remember Plugger ... a greyhound trainer now!

For every week Hall and MOL play in the forward line with White and Grundy in the team, is another week where Grundy and White draw the third and fourth string defenders - gives them a greater chance of improving skills and ability to play at the Senior level with the pressure.

Still, up until now I was all for a contract extension, now I remember how I felt last year... anticipating with relief the moment when Hall played his last game in the red and white. Honestly, he just adds stress to the team. Even against the Eagles when he played a 'perfect' game, Goodes and Kirk and others were constantly going over to him.

Grundy has been in the system for 3 years now, White a year or so. They can stand up on their own two feet, as demonstrated when, against Carlton, without MOL or Hall, we beat a supposed top-4 bound team. If Roos is still unsure whether the three (if you include Johnstone who should come in next year) can survive on their own without MOL (who WILL retire after his 300th I believe - not immediately mind you) and Hall next year, then recruit a key forward from another club. I've said it before, but I'd actually set my sights on Jack Riewoldt. VERY talented, like his cousin, and may want out of a club that's obviously going nowhere soon, to come to a club that is run by a brilliant coach, with a great chance to make finals year in year out. Maybe we could trade them someone like Malceski?

we at the bullies would be extremely happy to relieve you of hall :D.

Heh, sending the bully to the bullies... poetic justice.

I don't think we'll renew his contract, so sure, if he wanted to play on, I guess you guys could pick him up for free, but I suspect he'd rather go off and box.

I think we will renew it.
He does give away free kicks and shit which can cost us matches but he wins us more games then loses. Look just think back to our first couple of matches, we had no target and teams rebounded easily. No one made a contest barely any marks inside 50. Is that what you guys want?

And to redandwhite I realise he can't teach players but by drawing a great defender he is doing his fair share.

you do have a point vonn, but at what price ($600k has been mentioned) do you carry a "decoy"??? ... I agree with Stat's idea, and if we free up that cash, surely we can find someone to fit the bill ... I wouldn't mind Jack R. at Driver Avenue ...

... the trouble with players that "win" you "more games than they lose", is that they usually "lose" you the important ones (same reason that Carlton will never win a flag with Fev!) ... and don't forget, he should have been suspended and missed a GF already ...

He is an enigma, and sadly, we have never seen the best of Barry Hall ... he really did have all of the attributes, well nearly all!

Time to cut and run!

Price isn't a factor for us considering the retirements.
Not to mention we will lose more then that if we dont perform onfield.
I think Hall is a great player. He would have been a superstar if he played for VIC back in the day.

Guys go easy on the guy. He may have Been stupid today but his still our barry. And talks of trading him to dogs. Well I'd rather be traded to the dogs then see barry. His still our premiership captain. We can't expect the same level of skill etc but from a waning star that can still influence games (for good or bad, 6 last week 150 this week)
I want him to see the rest of his career at Sydney. And I will be heartbroken if he isn't offered another contract. It's so sad to see our stars retire. I don't want him too.
