The Crows are expected to have 10 players start training with them this week in preparation for the pre-season and rookie drafts on December 16. Seven will be ruckmen.

If this is correct, then Fantasia should be made to bend over and cop the rough end of a pineapple for his past slackness or the current obsession.

7 bloody ruckmen!!! Has the world gone mad!! Sheesh!!

2 or 3 maybe, but bloody 7!!

What about key defenders, in and under mid-fielders, etc etc??

7 bloody ruckmen!!

This sort of strategy reminds me of a student who does sweet **** all during the year and starts studying a day before the exam and expects to pass. 99.9% of the timethe student fails.

In all honesty we will not get a decent ruckman via rookie list unless we really have something up our sleeves. I know for a fact that AFC have gone into this year with the plan to keep an eye on EVERY ruckman in Australia regardless of height. My question is why hasn't this been done 2-3 years ago?????? Unless you pick up a ruckman in the 1st or 2nd round chances are more often than not that you will get a dud later on.

Over the last 2-3 years we have had many chances to pick up a young ruckman who shows a bit of promise. We have failed every time. This time next year we will again be in search of a good young ruck prospect.

We invited all these ruckman but what about Michael Johnson (KPP from WA), Jacob Surjan (WA athletic midfielder), Adam Bentick (an in and under midfielder from Calder Cannons), Teague (WA wingman who has excellent kicking skills), William Gayfer (KPP from Murray Bushrangers), Beckenridge from North Adelaide etc......

We are once again screwing up our picks just because we have missed the numerous opportunities previously to pick up the sort of player that we desperatly need at the moment.

Haha! That isnt the best photo of him.. he looked better on tv.

I tell ya what, the crows picked up a couple of hotties in the draft :p . We will have to keep our eyes on these ones :)

Stiffy agree with your comments
Problem is list size and having players developed and available when the club needs them.
I know Street is bad example but Geelong spent how many years developing him and lost him because the couldnt or wouldnt give him game time.

Outside our core list of say 25 we only have spots for 13 extra and we are forced every year to drop off 3

Just a side note to Hudson: someone said of the VFL ruckmen he played, they weren't really much competition, and one of them was Alessio.

Now personally I thought Alessio was a great, under-rated player. He was sorely under-used by Sheedy in recent years, but he was stellar in the year before their premiership, and whenever he was given the leading ruck role he performed brilliantly. I often followed him as a player during Essendon games and those times he had to take the lead ruck role he was sensational, nice tapping and great around-the-ground work.

Not the worst competition.
