AFL Club
Essendon
B: Baguley, Carlisle, Pears
HB: Dempsey, Hooker, Hibberd
C: Goddard, Watson, Melksham
HF: Crameri, Hurley, Winderlich
F: Howlett, JD, Davey
R: Ryder, Stanton, Heppell
Int: Bellchambers, Zaharakis, Myers, Hocking

Fletcher to rotate through back line with Pears and Bags.
Hurley and Carlisle to keep switching when one or the other needs it.
Gumby held in reserve (dreaming).
Kommer to keep pressure on Davey

Who have i forgotten?

Seems to be pretty much a copy and paste of today's team.

Another preseason I would hope to see Merrett set in best 22, Kav close. There's usually a surprise or 2.

Yeah, i thought i was going to put up something bold and different but then lost interest and got boring...

You can't have Belly, Ryder and Daniher in the same side with Crameri too.

FB: Baguley, Hooker, Fletcher (Pears if Fletch retires)
HB: Dempsey, Carlisle, Hibberd

C: Goddard, Watson, Stanton

HF: Crameri, Hurley, Zaharakis
FF: Davey, Daniher, Kommer

R: Ryder, Hocking, Heppell

Int: Winderlich, Myers, Howlett, (Whoever we get in return for Bellchambers...another mid)

I don't agree with paying Bellchambers his market value to be a back up and believe in getting a quality mid and high enough draft pick to get the best young ruckmen in the draft.

With Free Agency the trade market will become more active and clubs will need to evaluate when players have reached peak value, especially in positions where that club has depth. Essendon could easily get Chris Yarran, a player with upside who fits a need who hasn't fit in with the new coach. I'm not saying get Chris Yarran, I am just using him as an example.

Sunday should've been a good example as to why we aren't handing away any of our KPP's at the end of the year. If one of them wants out, sure, but both our depth and quality is just a massive massive strength. They're not all consistent, but we have a couple of them stand up every game. Makes us difficult to match up on.

The backline is the interesting part. I've long thought the trio of Carlisle-Hooker-Hurley is what we should go with, and looks very formidable. The form Pears is in though, you want him in there. And then there's the question of Fletcher for probably next year.

I don't think there's any doubt that we'll keep and play both Crameri and Bellchambers every game, so it's only if they want out that that will happen. The two that are the questionable ones are Gumbleton and Pears. We can't really guarantee either of them a game next year, and I could see both having issue with that.

For the future, I've initially got:
Back: Carlisle - Hooker - Hurley
Forward: Daniher - Crameri - Bellchambers/Ryder

There is the potential to squeeze Gumbleton in there too, and play Crameri higher which I don't mind, but that's starting to look big.

The 2 important points I think are:
- Whether Fletcher plays on next year
and
- Come round 1, 2014 do we see Daniher in our best side?

With that all said, I'll guess

FB: Baguely - Hooker - Fletcher
HB: Hibberd - Carlisle - Dempsey
C: Stanton - Howlett - Goddard
HF: Zaharakis - Hurley - Melksham
FF: Winderlich - Daniher - Merrett
FOLL: Ryder - Watson - Heppell

INT: Hocking - Myers - Bellchambers - Kavangh

- Hurley officially goes back whenever Fletcher retires, next year or later. If next year, TRB has the choice of moving Hurley back and rbinging Gumble in, or just a straight bringing Pears in.

It does seem Merrett is the favourite of the younger guys which I don't mind. I'd like to see at least one more of Kavangh/N'OB/Browne cement a spot too, it seems from looking above, probably at Kommer's expense.

What I've basically gathered from all this is I have no idea what they'll do, and we have some hard decisions coming up.

B: Baguley, Carlisle, Glass
HB: O'Meara, Hooker, Hibberd
C: Goddard, Watson, Shuey
HF: Crameri, Franklin, Winderlich
F: Howlett, JD, Garlett
R: Pike, Ablett, Dangerfield
Int: Bellchambers, Zaharakis, Selwood, Hocking

You never know, the recruiting department may go effing nuts.

So yes, way to early to be talking about next season.
