forgive me cause im a little drunk (bloody $1 spirits again;) )
saw this movie tonight and throughly enjoyed it. eric bana was very good in it,especially becoming more pronounnced towards the end of the film
i do recommend that people do go and see it
:) :)

Really looking forward to seeing this movie.

But when i think of eric bana the words 'mullet', 'VB' and 'Poida' come to mind

Ive seen the movie once already on Sunday night and I'll see it again this Sunday.

One of the best war movies ever, up there with Apocalypse NOW and Saving Private Ryan I think.

I went with a bunch of girlfriends and I was the only one who actually enjoyed it (they were a bit disappointed we didn't actually see the new Johnny Depp movie:p ). Thought Bana's accent was a bit dodgy, great acting though, good thing the other two foreigners could do yank talk properly.

Josh Hartnett was good, too.:D

Of course it was great. Once you got passed the obligatory "character and situation introduction" at the start, it was all shooting and explosions from then on.

The problem I had were the terrible tactics used by the US troops. The initial plan was weak, and once it went to scheize, the subsequent measures not only sucked, they were improvised rather than contingent.

The soldiers went seemingly out of their way to expose themselves to fire, and it didn't occur to anyone until after nightfall to use the AH-6 as fast attack air support.

I complained bitterly about the tactics throughout the film. I lost count of how many times I was "shhhhhhhhhh'ed." If anyone wants to know whether I could have done better - Yes, I could have.

Great film though. You can never beat lots of shooting and explosions. Might get it on DVD, but it is definitely not a theatre repeat IMO.

I was quite disapointed with it.
Considering the hype leading up to it, I felt abit let down.

One of my favourite films is 'Saving Private Ryan' and its hard to compare any war film to it. BHD rated below Private Ryan, Thin Red Line, Enemy at the Gate and Gallipoli for me.

There was half an hour build up, then a 2 hour fight scene. And I didn't even find the war scenes that gripping. I think a reason for this is because there was no character development and you didn't care enough about the characters. You want to be in a position in these type of films were you are sitting on the edge of your seat hoping that your favourite character gets out alive. I just didn't feel that unfortuantly...

But hey, there are alot of people that do like it as it has some great effects and a touch of comedy. Make up your mind. If we all liked the same films then it would be a very boring world.

cheers...

Saw it last night. Typical US bias, "Anywar is a good war" theme. Not one of the 1,000 innocent somalians that were slaughtered by the US whilst over there.
Of course, I didn't expect to see anything less. Plenty of gore and bullets as usual but I am still pissed off about the dead Somalians getting a 5 second mention at the end of the film. Why didn't the producer(s) show all 1,000 names of them? Huh?

Spoiler...
Do not read down here you dumb bastards that are going to see the movie in the next few days! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

OK. I thought it was rather amusing how the soldier (name I've forgotten), says, "People often ask me why we are involved in a war that's none of our business? Do we think we are some sort of hereos?"
Of course, the solider answers the second question, with a 10 minute speil on how he dosen't think he is some sort of hero. He totally forgets about the first question, why the hell the US are there? It's none of their business, unless you one of those "Anywar is a good war" types. Typicall bull****. [/rant]

I saw it yesterday and was very impressed.

I don't think it is a pro-America, hand on heart, flag waving exercise like some other movies we have seen (something that makes me want to puke). It is just a retelling of an incident that happened, in fact it exposes a lot of incompetence on the Americans part. A complete stuff up of what should have been a simple mission.

Extremely inaccurate version. The book is more accurate and does alot more justice.

Thanks for that, I was given the impression it was close to what happened.

Of course the movie will not be accurate when you can get the blood and slow motion shots of guns firing, which will be more popular. I'm getting the book next week hopefully. I should have read it first before seeing this.

theres another movie coming out soon called "we were soldiers"
not sure of the details of it as yet,but by all reports its supposed to be better than saving private ryan

I saw the preview last night for "We were soldiers." Looks pretty good, Mel Gibson looks pretty good!

I thought Black Hawk Down was pretty good. Not up there with Saving Private Ryan", but still one of the better war films for a while.

Eric Bana was good I thought, dodgy accent and all. He seemed to improve as the movie went on.

The movie was reasonably enjoyable, if you like continuous fighting, blood, guts, gore, bullets flying everywhere, RPG's almost jumping out of the screen. I can't tell you how many times I ducked and dodged throughout the screening, by the end I was so tired, I felt as if I had been in the movie :D

It was kinda predictable in parts though, like you knew that guy was going to die when Josh Harnett said, "You're gonna make it home," or something like that. And while Eric Bana tried hard, that accent was laughable really...I imagine it would be really hard but surely it could have sounded better than that?? Maybe I'm being harsh.

Did anybody think Ewan McGregor's character, Grimes, was based on that guy from the Simpsons who hated Homer?? I thought the similarities were uncanny :D

Best movie I have seen since Swordfish.
Forget ali people aside from the occasional good fight scence this more kills it as far as entertainment and deep meaning goes.
Highlights the shocking nature of war, and is one heart pounding race from start to finish.

Wrong! At the beginning when they storm the building they have air support from the Black Hawks.

And IMO, War movies are often the most anti war of all movies. The soldiers did their job, nothing more nothing less.
