There are interesting names out there (Come By Chance, Innaloo, Mt Swan etc etc) and then there are some boring names like Melbourne, Dallas, Sydney and London.

What are some boring names you've come across?

How you define what interesting and boring is, is incredibly subjective.

For one, the sort of names that don't roll off the tongue as well as others.

They don't have a name that suggests anything funny or rude.

Green Bay, Salt Lake City, Long Beach etc.

In languages other than English unimaginatively named places sound much more interesting. Cote D'Azur, Montenegro, Belgrade etc.

I also find it a bit cheesy when places here are named after particularly well known English towns and cities. Newcastle, Liverpool, Oxford etc. FFS be a bit more creative.

If only Melbourne had been Batmania...

Yep, massive fail there. Batmania would have been awesome.

Nhill.. Says it all really.
It's actually not that bad a place, considering the region it's in anyway. I mean, the Wimmera really is about as uninteresting as it gets. But Nhill is doing okay; better than places like Dimboola and Murtoa, anyway.

I have relatives in Horsham and it consistently amazes me what a bore it is.

I guess Nhill is phonetically a spectacularly uninteresting name, though.

Sunshine has got to be the most contradictory name in the history of suburbs. Ain't nothing bright about Sunshine.

Based on our train line,
Craigieburn
Roxburgh Park
Coolaroo
Broadmeadows
Jacana
Glenroy
Oak Park
Pascoe Vale
Strathmore
Glenbervie
Essendon
Moonee Ponds
Ascot Vale
Newmarket
Kensington
North Melbourne
Southern Cross
Flinders St
I would say it's pretty average. The Hurstbridge and South Morang lines have some pretty weird names though

I assume that's cause the first settlers named those places? Same with the new England region of america.
