Since Brad packed his bags and headed off for Roo land, has his departure had a major effect on our midfield matchup/rotations? Since he has left Swannie has been kept quite (comparitevly speaking - he was unstoppable before) as well as Did's to a lesser extend (and others), and our midfield does not seem to me to be functioning as effectively as it was. How big is his loss, and how do we replace what he brought to the coaching staff, given finals are about to kick off.

Will have had some effect, but I doubt it's that extreme.

We will definately find out Sunday.

I think swan's head has been out of it the last few weeks with his court case. Hopefully he can have a big one this week.
GO PIES!!!

The quality of the opposition over the last 3 weeks would have had an impact too - Richmond, Sydney then the Dogs. The Dogs were always a tough ask but a week out from finals you wouldn't want your gun players killing themselves. And the Richmond and Sydney games, again, you wouldn't expect the players to have had the hunger to rack up the stats, rather just get the win and move on. I saw the last three and the Richmond/Sydney games really had a laconic, 'do what we have to do and move on' feeling to them. Even the crowds were pretty flat.

At this stage of the year he's not a great loss. All his good work has already been done by the time he left - and you cant undo that.

That said I believe he will be an unbelievably good coach into the future. He'll be as smart and as passionate as Clarkson but have the temperement and media savvy of Roos and coach as if he had the experience of Malthouse.

In my Opinion I reckon its going to be a bigger loss than we can imagine. Brad Scott has been doing a fantastic job all year, yeah we might not have been as hungry over the last 3 weeks, but we can not under estimate the work he has done and how much of a hole he has left.

i don't understand why we let him go straight away, if you remember back to 2002 or it might have been 2003 when Laidley left to go to the Roos, we kept him on for the finals, I find it bizarre that he was let go straight away.

Its not as if he would have got extra insight into Malthouse, he has been with him all year.

We might regret that decision, I seriously hope it has little effect.
