I just finished watching the WAFL grand final and he had a very good game for being in the losing team. I'm a huge fan of his and he will be on the senior list but does anyone here think he'll be in our best 22 next year. I thought he was good when he was playing, but with some of the older players showing form he couldnt get back in after injury.

Will he be in our best 22 next year??

I think it will depend on his pre-season. If he has a blinder then i could see him as a starter next year but i think it's more likely that he'll play the first couple in the WAFL then work his way into the senior team. ATM, i don't think he is in the best 22 in our squad but he woud be in the next 3 or 4 after that. He played a very good game today, especially the second half. I don't see anyway that he couldn't be promoted.

on the other rookie playing today, i think Ruda will be let go.

Good post, and i think that Bones will be in and out of our team next season depending on injuries.. If we can keep our best 22 uninjured next season, i cant see many of the fringe players getting a run unless they have spectacular WAFL form

On Rudda, i thought he used the ball very effectively today and could show why he could be a decent player for us.. The only thing going against him is that we have such a good young list and he probably wont get the opportunity, ala Callum Chambers..
I'd like to see Rudda go to another club and succeed, because he certainly has the skills and brain to be a successful player at AFL level

Jones will obviousbly be elevated.

Whether he's in our best 22 is the question.

I reckon theres about 15 guys who i have in our best 22 (as of today) and for the next 7 spots you could pick any 7 of another 15 and you'd pretty much have the same standard team.

Jones is very similar to Hunter in his size and style of play, so which ever of those two has the better pre season will get the gig for round 1. Unfortunately not enough room for two in the team, and neither are capable of going forward (as much as Hunter has played forward, i don't rate him up there and get very uncomfortable when he has the ball in front of goal) so therefore they don't have a spot on the bench.

And for who ever gets the round 1 position will just have to take their chance and it will make it difficult for the other.....

To build a career he's going to have to earn it on a weekly basis.

One of the funny things about AFL is how hard it is to become a fixture in the side when you've come off the rookie list- a performance that would have most people saying 'this kid is going to be a star' for a 1st round draftee will generally be considered adequate for a rookie.
Classic example is Cox, who at this stage is actually putting up numbers that are as good if not better than Gardiner was at the same stage of his career- if he were a first round draft pick he'd probably be getting a lot more love from the media in general.

Don't like giving positives to Wet Toasters, but after seeing the Wafl GF today, Brett Jones should easily be in your best 22. He is very hard at the ball, & I would rate him ahead of Beau Waters at this stage...is actually a decent size & played CHB today, but better suited to a flank. With Nicoski & Jones on half back flanks next year, you have a foundation to build on.

We'll give you Troy Longmuir for him, if you guys don't want him?

Actually Swans swung Hunter forward last week in the WAFL prelim, and I thought he was actually quite effective there (well at least compared to the rest of the Swans forwards anyway). I know Hunter hasn't provided much at AFL level, but I think he may be able to go forward if a serious attempt at it was tried.

Bones is probably not in the 22 at the moment, but would certainly be at the top of the fringe.

he played awesome in the gf against subi. Really felt sorry for him, coz he tried his heart out all day.

With the rumours of morrison moving on to victoria, this fella would be a great replacement.
Imagine him and mark nicoski running the ball out of defense all the time.

I was thrilled with the way Brett played in the local GF - very exciting prospect and should be in the team from the outset of 2005 and kept there.

Be even better if we get Chad Jones from the roos.
