BTK- Blind, Torture, Kill. Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Rader

Denis Rader, a man who terrified Wichita, Kansas in the 1970's and continued killing until 1991. A wolf in sheep's clothing who managed to evade police throughout his actual time killing, and was only caught after re-engaging with them in 2004. Had he not re contacted them, he may well have got away with it all and taken the secrets to his grave. But his lack of knowledge in regards to the fact the police could look at where the files on his floppy discs had been loaded was the end of him

I read the book "Unholy Messenger, The Life and Crimes of the BTK Serial Killer" and it was an excellent read. Chilling, but excellent. It detailed all of his kills and his life right up until his arrest

The fact that his wife and children had no clue is amazing, and what it would have done to them once the info came out after the arrest. You'd feel beyond betrayed and a life wasted with such a monster

Anyone else read much about him?

I can't believe that he was stupid enough to trust the cops when they told him it was fine to use a computer disk for communication when he asked if it could be used to trace him, what a moron.

Maybe he wanted to be caught? I know its stupid but the whole contacting them after 15 years was risky to begin with, he was probably an egomaniac that wanted recognition for his crimes and how smart he was evading the cops for so long and if were honest he was one up on them all along because they had no idea who he was.

I saw a documentary one night and it was heartbreaking, seeing his family and especially one guy who had his mother murdered when he was just a kid, I think he was in the house too when it happened. He went to the court to read a victim impact statement during the trial but he just broke down it was one of the most painful things I have ever seen.

He really was a sadistic ****.

I didn't know this, investigators took his daughters biopsy and pap smear exams from Kansas State Uni pinging a match to her father as BTK. There's a lot to take away from this interview with his daughter.

I always remember the quote from the BTK book i read about when they took the DNA and how cautious they were being

"Dennis Rader may not be Kerri's dad, but Kerri's dad is BTK"

Once that was proved, they had their guy

BTK serial killer Dennis Rader sent a word puzzle to media — two decades later, it may close a missing persons case

A 20-year-old word search puzzle created by an infamous US serial killer has given investigators a clue to another unsolved case — a missing girl's name. The puzzle was first sent to a news station by convicted killer Dennis Rader in 2004, but only a handful of words relevant to the crime were found at the time. That was until last month when detectives received a package from an anonymous woman.

It had been part of a number of items sent to a news station decades earlier. The names of the 10 known victims and Rader's address were also hidden inside. After a renewed look, detectives found the words: "Cindy", "Kinney", "laundry mat", and "Pawhuska".

"There's hints all the way through that can't be overlooked," Sheriff Virden said. "We're still in the process of trying to evaluate that … but it's pretty hard to get around the fact that Cindy Kinney's name is in there."

Pretty decent podcast called “Monster BTK”

It's really thorough, I started listening about a week ago. They've done a top job with it.

Unbelievable how he got away, not one kill was well planned or really went smoothly.

He was Mr Ordinary do-gooding pillar of the community kind of a guy, flying under all the radars.

I haven't finished the series yet.

A new Netflix doco featuring the daughter has just aired.

The daughter confronted Denis seeking information about potential other victims including herself.

He kept a ledger of all of his offending. With a reference to his daughter's birthday.

He mentioned, if he didn't have family commitments, there would have been more victims.
