A mate of mine is attempting to start a business where he services sporting clubs & the like with their alcohol needs.

He charges a 5% - 10% fee (on the cost price of the goods) & delivers, stocks up & supplies with promo gear their fridges.

How do you think he will go?

You'll also find most local sporting clubs have sponsorship deals with their local pub or bottleshop.

Mine has a deal with our local bottleshop. He puts up his signs up at the club, gives us promotional gear (IE Hats, t-shirts, stubby holders etc) and a discount on our grog. In return, we buy all of our booze from there.

If he's done his preparation and has some customers lined up from the start he'll have created himself a job. Nothing to scoff at but I think it would be a lot of work for a gross return of 9% of turnover. To put $1000 in his pocket each week he'll need a turnover of maybe $25,000 a week? What about licence costs? Is he officially selling alcohol or just a distributor?
