Hi I was just wondering if you guys could tell me about him such as where we can except him to play, how much can we expect from him, is he a week in - week out senior player?

Thanks

Its been done a few times already, but-

He's very quick, a very precise kick and a natural goal kicker. He's very much an outside player though, basically he's a classic old style wingman or HFF. At West Coast he was in and out of the team partly because he was competing for place in the team with the likes of Judd, Cousins, Fletcher and Kerr, and partly because there was a perception he lacked accountability couldn't perform consistently or on the road.

IMO, I think he'll respond well to a team where he'll get more minutes and play a greater role. The biggest question mark though is that he was very much a 'subiaco' player- his outside style, pace and lack of accountability seems to be suited to running and gunning on a big ground.. will be interesting to see how he handles playing in melbourne every week.

Given that he has genuine pace and better skills than an average midfielder, for what you paid for him, you got a bargain.

Yeah I agree with Meady Boy here.

I think Cal will go well at the Blues, so much so that trolls will list him as a trade we got dudded on. He IS a good player, he does have talent but he never became a best 18 player at the Eagles - I think it was mostly due to the very strong midfield but then again, after 2002 when Cal had his best season there was definately room to grab a spot for 2003 and beyond because Chad Fletcher and Andrew Embley were yet to turn into guns - Michael Braun was looking to reestablish himself and Chris Judd wasn't 'CHRIS JUDD' yet. Cal dropped out of favour in 2003, generally patchy performances and much of the same in 2004 - some good games though, 20 touches plus but not enough.

I think a change of team will help and a player of his skills should slot into Carltons midfield pretty well. He does need a good run at AFL level as it been a couple of years since he was a best 22 player. Regardless, I think you got a bargain.
