Cam did a great job and I wish him all the best in the future.
Did anybody else read in the Herald Sun today that the club has been approached by at least 3 people within the AFL already to take over Cam's job, according to Smorgon anyway. This is great news, regardless of who the people are, simply due to the fact that people are now wanting to come to our club instead of passing us over to go to a higher profile club.

Easier to replace a CEO than a player or a coach

I like the idea of getting a bit more player perspective into the CEO role

just the one who was a link in a chain of underperforming CEOs, and who was moved on at the end of 1998 with 22 months left to run on his contract. I'm not suggesting he was part of Geelong's financial problems, but he sure as hell wasn't part of the solution. Be wary.

According to the Board and Smorgon, we will be doing due process and encouraging other applicants, as it should be.

Cam Rose was not a football identity, but was picked for his good business nous and acumen. We should definatley not go down the path of taking someone who has a link to another football club or our football club for that matter, but get the person with the most credentials and ability to strategically plan ahad for us. Anything less would undo the good hard work that Cam has done.
