have sold my car and it is being picked up on the weekend but i want the stereo out first. does anyone know approximately how much it would cost to get taken out and whether there are any service people that come to you? (the car is a piece of shit and shouldnt be driven)

Too late.
If its a private buyer and he saw the car then he has paid for it "As Is".

If it is getting sold/traded to a car yard go for it :thumbsu:
 
Do it yourself it's not hard..

Just make sure you disconnect the wiring harness and keep that (the plug at the back with the wires coming out) as you will need that. The only hard thing sometimes is with newer cars when you have to take half the bloody dash apart to get at the thing.
 
get something strong and thin like hack saw blades and slide one down each side of the unit, hopefully it should just slide out when you press the clips. Otherwise, like I experienced in my Berlina, you could be faced with a unit bolted to your dash which is bloody hard, time consuming and messy to get out in which case, I'd just take it to an audio joint.

I believe I had one previously cost about $100 to install. Can't remember how accurate that figure is though. Shouldn't cost any more to uninstall
