I have no real issue with it. If Carey can teach the likes of Hartlett, Norman and even Morrell and Whitnall how to time their run, how to outbody their opponent (without giving away shepherding frees Lance) and more importantly how to get the maximum benefit out of Pagan's paddock, we will improve right off the bat.

I'm hoping that Pagan does not go back 100% to the paddock though as it didn't work for us and he allowed flexibility with it in 2004.

Carey...Kernahan...Whitnall

What a beautiful HF line up...

I think he would teach great skills for the KP/marking players for the Blues. I just dont know why he would come to carlton

why not adelaide or the roos?

I don't know whether it's true or not but I guess Pagan is the obvious link and they worked really well together at North.

And I'm sure he's expressed interest in the past in coaching. Probably too early to go back to North, and he has probably moved out of Adelaide.

Confirmed on Blues Official Website

Carlton has reunited one of the finest football partnerships in the history of the game, with dual Kangaroos premiership captain Wayne Carey to join the man who masterminded those two flag triumphs, Denis Pagan, as a specialist coach at Optus Oval.

Carey will mentor the Blues' young players in both group and one-on-one sessions, and pay particular attention to helping its forward line, in a voluntary capacity on a weekly basis.

"Having worked with Wayne Carey previously I know his football knowledge will be of great benefit to the players. It is a great opportunity for the players to learn from
one of the greats of the game," Pagan said in a statement.

"We have a very young playing group at Carlton and having Wayne Carey volunteer his time to work with our young group will really benefit their football development."

Having recently signed with Fox Footy to be involved with the station both as host of a weekly show and also to provide special comments during matches, Carey met with Pagan and match committee chairman Stephen Kernahan on Wednesday morning.

"This was the first meeting with Wayne on this matter and he is very keen to be involved and put something back into football," Pagan added.

"We understand his commitment with Fox Footy will be his main priority and appreciate his desire to still be directly involved in football. His willingness to take on this role on a voluntary basis emphasises his desire to put something back into the game."

When Pagan was appointed North Melbourne coach at the start of 1993 he immediately installed Carey as captain, and the Roos went on to play in the next eight finals series, winning the flag in 1996 and 99, making the Grand Final in 1998 and playing in a preliminary final every season from 1994-2000.

Will be good news for our Forwards to learn the art of forward work from Sticks and Carey

I just wondering whether that is enough time to cut one of the player's lunch.

Guy named Johno who does that for them.
Being serious it will be one day a week working with the younger players, who knows whether he will be a success? one things for sure it was worth a try.
