Carlton's Gameplan

And to the OP... good read and well thought out.

With Waite coming back into the squad after all this time out, are you looking to have him interchange with Hendo and Carlos so that he can get a reasonable run out there in the forward line?

Or is it going to be more a case of throw him in where he can do the most damage to the opposition because I think for the first few rounds until he gets full match fitness back and is 100% confident with his knee, he would be more of an impact player for us.

I'd want Waite playing as an impact player spending over a quarter or more on the bench in order to keep him fresh for the last and safeguard him from re-injury. Would probably be sent on as a forward, but could feasibly take over Scotland as loose in defence plucking a couple of marks and starting a drive. I love his versatility even when injured

Nice OP.

Personally, I'd like to see the ball getting run through the corridor whenever possible. Kicking long to non-options on the wings has been one of the most irritating facets of Carlton's game for years.

We now have the best up and coming midfield in the competition, and there's no excuse for players not having the self-confidence to run the ball through the middle and set up quality inside 50 passes.

I'd also like to see less inside 50s heading towards the pockets (and boundaries) and more forward leads through the guts.

Carlton really seem to be a so-called "confidence team"... When we're hot, we can't do any wrong, but if we get stuck in a rut, we can butcher the ball and make decisions as bad as any club in the AFL. I'd really just like to see our side mature this year into a bunch of guys who don't get flustered when the pressure is on. Hopefully our skills under pressure improve, because I think this is one of the things we've been lacking.

My 2 cents.

I would love to see Carlton using our speed through the middle with the occasional push out to the wings to break things up.

In a couple of years (about when I reckon our true premiership window opens in 2012) our team will have been playing together for long enough and our development has be completely finished, we will be using our speed off the flanks to push through the corridor into the forward line and picking the right option for us to score.

But at the moment, any path into the forward line is the best option.
