Sure, but they do all have two key defenders and another 1-2 players around 190cm+ range that can play tall/are good overhead.


Jones and one of O’Donnell/Keath surrounded by Duryea (181cm), Johannisen (181cm), Vandermeer (182cm), Richards and Dale (both generously 188cms) would be the smallest and probably least impactful backline in the air of the top 8. Personally, I’m not keen on going into the heat of finals with a novelty backline. O’Donnell next to Jones & Keath is the closest setup to the contenders.


Our hopes of a balanced backline this year improbably rest on O’Donnell’s ability to go from local level fast bowler to a solid AFL level two way medium defender between February and September.
