Pretty sure you must travel in a group and they only go on certain days. I'd say you could fly into Kiev or something and go from there, i dont think its too far and i dont think its cheap either!. Would love to go myself one day, would be interesting. Will have to look into it more.

i've heard port moresby and chechnya are good this time of year too.

Prepare to shit brix.
Disclaimer: haven't been, but would like to go some day.

dude, google "chernobyl victims" on image and then decide whether you still want to go there.
bit like the hills have eyes!

From all accounts it is not a particularly exciting place - an abandoned power station, a sealed concrete bunker, and a couple of memorials. Given how difficult it is to get there I have never really understood the attraction.

I have always been fascinated with Chernobyl. As radiation levels have decreased in recent years, I wouldn't mind taking a day tour of the neighbouring ghost town, Pripyat - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pripyat_(city). The abandoned areas like the gymnasium and ferris wheel interest me. Only concern is its locality to Belarus.

This, I want to go to the swimming pool there.
