Regarding the Tendulkar ball tampering incident:
"If that's not ball tampering, I'll play the lead role in Mrs Doubtfire"

He said that about 5 minutes after Ian Chappell said goodbye to NSW, Vic, Tasmanian viewers of Day 1. Feel free to post up more of Richie's Random Ramblings!

My favourite 'Ritchie' came from the 1981 Ashes, 4th Test at Edgbaston.

At tea on the Saturday England were 9 down in their 2nd innings, about 100 ahead. The crowd were pretty quiet Taylor and Willis had a stand for the last wicket, taking the lead to 150 and getting the crowd warmed up slightly.

Australia had about an hour to bat and Willis an Old roared in with the crowd now distinctly lively, memories of Headlingley fresh in their minds. Old traps Wood LBW and the crowd explodes. The cacophony goes on until the next batsman has taken guard and Ritchie hasn't said a word (following the rule of all good comemtators, if you can't add to the picture don't try - Bob Willis please note). As the noise subsides and the spectators take their seats comes the comment:

"Lions 1 Christians Nil".

Sublime.

Only Arlott could have matched it.

Bellerive Test in about 1993. They have just come back from an ad break and Richie says "A pretty small crowd in here at Bellerive".

The cameraman then spots two good looking females wearing bikini tops and short denim shorts and zooms in for the tight shot of them walking away from the camera. Richie's comment : "Of course it's quality not quantity".

Priceless.

After a Sri Lankan batsman got hit right in the goullies ...
something along the lines of:

"Hmmm. That's the type of injury where you hope the pain goes, but the swelling stays ..."
