He's playing in the Coburg 2's. He needs to get fit and motivated or he'll be delisted at the end of the year.

what is wrong with some of these blokes that are given chances to play at afl level and probably have the talent and let it go to waste... sounds like he'll be another could of should of player.... disappointing

He came to us after being delisted from Freo due mainly to attitude problems, has shown some good form in the Ressies, and will hopefully get elevated to the Burgers Seniors after their ordinary run of form, could become a Matty Campbell, Betts, Wonamirri, Daveys type of player, just needs to work himself fit and get into form, would be a welcome inclusion considering the need we have for a crumber, I think he can be a great crumber, but they are trying to get some midfielder into him so he can contribute more than just one position on the ground.

He is excellent overhead as well. Plays "taller" than his height and is a dead eye dick for goal.

He needs to spend some time with Andy Collins . that way he'll learn about professionalism and how to play for the jumper not the birds or the accolades. He'll be right. He's with a good club now. It will just take time.

Believe it or not, having heaps of 'talent' can actually be a bad thing.

It leads you to dominate through junior years, without ever really having to work as hard as your peers ( if at all ), and really don't have the discipline and work habits needed.

Players like Collard get picked up in the draft because recruiters watch them do 'special' things in matches, realise they have the potential to be great and are willing to take a punt ( usually with lower picks ). Sometimes they work ( Franklin is actually an example of this ), often they don't ( many forgotten nobodies ).

Collard was picked up in the hope that his delisting from Freo and move to Vic would give him a kick and the better environment to succeed...If it works, we're got a good player, if not, well, it was only a rookie pick.

He's probably stuck playing for the 2's as a message and will stay there until the coaching staff is convinced he's improved his attitude and work rate. I wouldn't be surprised if he needs to dominate for several weeks before getting a call up.

franklin isnt an example of this
he was the lazy guy with too much talent

he thought he was too good and couldnt even do pushups or chinups
now he has learnt to do the hard yards and you see where it has got him

collard will be fine would be mostly playing for coburgs reserves because we can only have so many tigers play for coburg
and why have a rookie player take a coburg spot instead of one of our richmond guys
if he gets promoted he will be playing for richmond or coburg but we have no injuries

Coburg twos is a worse standard than most local 1st div seniors.

Its a waste sitting guys there and the system needs to be changed.

Bring back an AFL twos comp so we can see all our kids playing at a good standard I say.

He would be better off having a kick at Vermont or Noble Park than the Coburg Twos.

agree - we make a massive financial and business place investment in these kids - and end up getting in a situation where their possible devlopment is flawed because they end up playing in a league which is lesser to the juniors. should be able to name as many as possible in the vfl seniors - if they have EARNED their place - they deserve it
