Used to see Cleve Hughes playing in the SANFL. I thought he played fairly well in a poor team performance against Geelong and then again against the Power last week. Was surprised he was dropped for this game tonight against Adelaide. How do Richmond people see his development? How has his form been in the VFL? Thanks for any replies.

Started this year in VFL where he was playing as a tall backman. Then played one game up foward and snagged 5 or 6 and came straight into the side. Was very stiff to be dropped, arguable because of the conditions and his lack of contest footy the last few weeks.

Will definatly be back playing at AFL level soon even if he just plays average games. Probably not next week though with Riewoldt more than likely comming into the side. He and Cleve will be competing to an extent for a the same position for alot of the year.

As far as development goes, he is only in his 2nd and has played just 6 games for which he has about 9 goals. It seems our void of KP backman was a strong reason why he started at Fullback for Coburg at the start of the year. But its clear that he is a tall foward, something we are far from depleted of with Riewoldt, Schult, Kinglsey, Richo, Huges and even Patto/Simmonds.

In saying this if Kingsley keeps plugging away at the VFL and gets some good results, Cleve may need a few injuries up forward to assure him a spot in our 22. Currently he would be boaderline in our best 22 IMO

Cleve is very much in Richmonds future plans.
With a lot of kids you wonder whether they are going to live up to their hype and expectations. But some players you know straight away that they're a gun.

Hughes is one of the good ones, a true CHF. Great kick good hands and competes.

I reckon he's already above Schultz in the pecking order. Just gone back to Coburg to help his development. He'll play against Essendon.
