Food, Drink & Dining Out Coffee machines

I'm another person who thinks these coffee machines are a load of rubbish. Also, what's with this making designs on the froth? It's gone after the first sip.

About time this was raised!

Define cheap.
I picked up this Saeco about 4 years ago for $400, but it was the last of the ones made in Italy, and was just before they were bought out by Philips. I think they are now made in Romania.
It's done me well and is still chugging along nicely.

Cheap would about 300 and under I know you get what you pay for.But if i buy my brother one for xmas it will be half that price.I dont think we have ever spend 300 on each other so thinking one of woolworths ones or a map machine matchbox were selling lavazza machines but i think they only do espresso's.Yours looks pretty good at least you can use whatever coffee you want not like these pod ones.

Bought one of these a couple of years back. Rancilio Silvia and a grinder to go with it was the wrong side of $1400. Manual tamping, manual frothing, etc. It makes wonderful coffee but you have to be a coffee w***er to really appreciate it (and get the best out of it most likely).
I use it once a day, maybe twice. At 6am when you're trying not wake the kids (it is really loud), it's a pain. If I had my time over again I'd buy a pod machine.

Pod machine with the steam wand "manual" frother really is a great combo, can actually froth milk with the steam wand faster than with the electric automated frother and can actually make more than 1 cup worth at a time without having to cool it down.

Been using the Breville 800es for about 5 years now, still going strong.

As someone said, it's all about the beans. As of a couple of months ago, I've even started going as far as roasting my own beans. Boy oh boy, it makes a hell of a difference. I used to make really nice coffee's, but since I've started roasting the beans they have really gone up a notch. Takes a bit of getting used to, but in the end it is well worth it. I use the popcorn popper method. Cheap, and really easy to do. And the beans are cheap as hell too - really save a lot of money in the long run.

A big LOL to everyone thinking owning a machine is excessive. The coffee I make tastes better than every cafe I've been to in my town, bar one. Sometimes I'll go out of my way during the day to grab one from there, they are absolutely amazing.

Seriously, buy this and be done with it
