Melbourne is a good club, but it is remarkable that they are the only Victorian team to have never:

1. Had a century goalkicker in a season.
2. Had a 300 game player.
3. Kicked 30 goals or more in a game.

I mean no disrespect to the Demons by this post, and they have many fine achievements to be proud of, I just find it strange that they have not achieved these three landmarks in their history

We've come close.

1. Fred Fanning I believe had 97, and we've had a Coleman Medallist.

2. Neitz is getting very close, and should get the 300 next year touch wood

3. We have the individual record for most goals in a game, suprised we didnt get 30 in that game.

I know ive always found it odd as well that we never had a 300 gamer.

Neitz and Yze will both get there though (as long as Yze's form doesn't drop off anymore)

We are a caring and sharing team. Fanning did kick 18 goals in one game and 97 for the year.

Yze and neitz will make it to 300 games. If Green plays on, he will too.

No offence to Yze or Green, but if they both made 300, they would be up there with the softest and least important players to ever get to the milestone.

Not in the league of a Harvey, West, Bradley, Neitz even.

I agree with Yze...I have the feeling that Green is young enough to completely turn his game around and have a profound importance on the team for years to come...Well...I hope. All he needs is one good season, or string about 5 or 6 quality games together and he'll set off like a rocket, got tremendous faith in him as a player

How many years have we said that about Green though?

Hes no spring chicken anymore, hes a senior player and should be playing better and more consistent football than he has been, IMO anyway.

Yeah but what about players like Riccardi or even Wayne Campbell (might be wrong on that one).

A lot of decent/average players play 300 games as long as they're useful.

Since when has softness ever been important. Loyalty an fitness get you to 300. The reason Yze plays every week is because he is still one of the most skilled players on the list. I'd rather have him in the team each week.

Melbourne Will Dominate Next Year Trust Me We Will Come 4th Just Behind Sydney with % West Caost Will Drop To 2nd Adelaide 1st We Will Win A A Game Winning By 30 Goals Or More And yze And Nietz Will make There 300th Im Not Sure About A Century Goal Kicker Though.

I seem to recall hearing that Fred Fanning went to the bush to coach during his footballing prime, can anyone confirm? It may have even been the case that his 97 goal season was his last at melbourne.

Nah, I think it had more to do with the old saying "you are only as good as your last game", so I think he wanted to end his career on 18 goals. ;)

How about if we push him up ford (just had a complete mental block - is that how you spell ford?) like we used to?

He was ultra consistent last year, he just isn't flashy anymore. Played a great game against St Kilda in the final too and was BOG when we beat Geelong in round 5.

Trust me, Green is fine, his kicking accuracy was a bit off last year but nobody could doubt his endeavour.

100% correct, he played in an adjusted role this year (more of a defensive wing) and he didn't stand out, he was consistant and worked very hard. I think he had a good year.

I was there when we got massacred by North (127pts) and John Longmire kicked 14. That'll do me for a bad day out - lucky I was young and stupid and it didn't scar me as much as it should have.

Unlike when we blew the 45pt lead in the last quarter against Essendon. That ********ed me up hardcore.
