Hey guys, I'm attempting to create salary spreadsheets for several clubs at the moment to better understand where everyone sits. I created a Suns version a few years ago and it will give you an idea of what I'm trying to do:

I understand some people don't like this so let's just avoid any sort of keyboard fight and steer clear of this thread if you don't like the concept. The idea is to create a resource that can provide fans with an idea of where their club sits and what they can do in the future in regards to obtaining/retaining players. Obviously no one really knows for sure but we're going on reported figures and educated guesses here. I'll start off with the reported $4 million a year deal that Pendlebury signed in 2012. I would think that was a back ended deal given the state of Collingwood's list at the time so it's probably fair to say Pendles is getting over a million in 2015 and 2016. It was also reported Cloke's contract was a $4 million deal over 5 years and again was probably back ended. So straight off the bat, Pendlebury and Cloke are probably both on million dollar salaries in 2015 and 2016.

Just a reminder that the AFL salary cap sits at $10,071,000 for 2015. The media has reported Collingwood has a war chest of salary cap space at the end of this season so keep that in mind when speculating. Another aspect to keep in mind here is that first round draftees earn around the 100k mark, second round about the 70k mark and third round about the 55k mark. I think rookies may be around the 50k mark.

With all due respect, but I'm with Black_white.

Definitely would prefer any information not be shared in public.

I like what you're doing but it's not the type of information I'd like shared on the Internet. It's far fetched, but it's something rival clubs can use if the information being provided is accurate and not known outside the club itself.

By the way, if you've got Port Adelaide's, can you please forward it on to Eddie and Hine to have a quick look through ;)

I understand why people are hesitant for this to get out but I think the benefits outweigh the negatives, as long as each club's spreadsheet is readily available. I think attaching a warning that tells the viewer that each salary spreadsheet is not confirmed as being accurate is important.

A difficult task you are attempting, I wish you well. Some notes if you wish to go into detail:
Rookies are not part of the cap
1st & 2nd year players are covered under AFLPA (see Old Spice thread for link) and can be worked out exactly what they are on but it's complicated by number of games played - I imagine as would any player having base + match payments.
Deals reported in media could include ASA payments for guys like Pendles and thus are on top of the 10.071M (again see comments in Old Spice thread)
Assumptions like Cloke & Pendles both back ended and on $1M plus can retrospectively be tested (to a limited degree) when figures are released on salary bandings - often not until the following year.

This is the clubs business and should not be shared with other clubs.
Please do not give assistance to the opposition.
Really?

I would've thought it was speculation that a punter could do on any club.
Obviously if your in the Collingwood sanctum you probably wouldn't post in here real figures.
Kinda goes without saying, pretty laughable if a club bases any offers to a player based on a bigfooty thread I would think.

I reckon StKilda would have a shot......

I would of thought contracts would be front ended more than anything, particularly taking into account the number of experienced and well paid players we have lost since '10.

Collingwood haven't really splashed the cash on any big name recruits since Jolly and Ball and have a relatively young list so no doubt cap would be available to make a play at someone if so desired.

To be fair, if a bunch of people on Bigfooty can sort this out I'm sure the clubs can get this information if they really wanted to. Not to mention they'd have a much better idea of what opposition players are earning anyway.

You need to factor in match payments according to player year (1st or 2nd), round position and the actual year (eg. 2015) so it's no easy thing.

The last CBA has 2nd year payments referring to the previous years games played. It also has a confusing header for 1st year players which is max payments but the max payments do not marry up to the range of games played. For example, a 1st round player for 2015 earns $3,265 per game for 1-5 games or 11+ games, but the max payment is $9,795. So you scratch your head and ask is the max for any range $9,795. If it is then the ranges they put down are pointless.

Good luck trying to work it out. I've got a spreadsheet on excel but Bigfooty doesn't allow you to upload it, even in XML format.

2015 1st year players get $3,500 per match. If they play 1-5 games they also get a $3,265 bonus. If the play 6-10 games they get another bonus of $3,265 and if they play 11+ they get a third bonus of $3,265 = total bonus of $9,795

eg Maynard plays two games this year he will get 3,500 x 2 (match payments) + 3,265 bonus = 10,265 (+ his 65k base for being 2nd round draftee)
eg 2 JDG plays 12 games this year he gets 3,500 x 12 (match payments) + 9,795 bonus = 51,795 (+ his 71,515 base for being 1st round draftee) (plus his $2,500 for being a top 5 pick - which I remember reading somewhere was not part of the cap)
