Ok, I thought it best to open a separate thread for all that wanted to play fantasy basketball this season. Obviously, if you are in the other league, you won't be joining us this season.

It would probably be a good idea to register for a live draft ala div 1 this weekend, then change it if appropriate.

The league settings posted in the sticky thread for div 1 sound good to me, but its probably up to the experts who have played this before to decide.

Showbag, just let everyone know when the league is registered and we can go from there.

that's 13 teams...we should probably create the league first (for either 14 or 12 teams), and also get final confirmation of who's definitely in.

If we still have an odd number of members then, well, it looks like a decision has to be made

we also need to know everyone's preferred draft style & time (if necessary).

my personal draft preference is a live draft, or if this isn't possible, a draft on bigfooty (at least it has a bit of interaction involved and allows for more flexibility when picking as compared to an autodraft - and we've got plenty of time to do it).

Hey Showbag, you're the gonna be the league commish right?
is it possible at this stage to set up the league now, with a (temporary) live draft time, e.g. sometime this weekend, then when the members are confirmed, everyone can decide on the actual time.

Ok. I will set up the league this weekend. I think it is a bit amitious to have a live draft this weekend. I am not sure whether Yahoo has opened the fantasy NBA yet. But, by Saturday afternoon, everything will be clearer.

Firstly obviously we need to increase the max number of teams from 10 because we have 13 confirmed already dont we?

Maximum players on a team definitely needs to be increased. If there are 10 positions then that leaves only 3 reserves and remember injuries happen too often. So why not raise it to 15 or 16 per team?

I would prefer rotisserie just like last year. I am not sure how head to head works. But if Im outvoted I dont mind.

So yes showbag I agree with you 100% on the stat categories. I think using categories such as ejections,flagrant fouls etc etc is getting pretty ridiculous so lets leave them out.

I agree with you on the starting positions as well.

Maybe increase the trade reject time by a day or two because some cant get on to the internet every single day or two. So how about 4 days for the trade reject time?

I cant make a live draft on Sunday either.

- I don't mind either Rotisserie or head to head, I played both last year and they were both fun.

I can't say for sure whether I can be there on Sunday, it all depends on the availability of my machine. I think trying to coordinate a time for 12-14 people is near impossible, so I think the best thing would probably be for a draft on here.

15 or 16 players would be too much as some teams may look stronger than others and you want the weaker teams to be able to pick up some free agents so they are still in with a chance....

If we had 13 players on 14 teams then that would make 182 players taken in the draft.

All we need is to lift the IL from 1 to maybe 2 or 3 so If you have to injuried stars then you can put them on the IL.

You bring up a good point. I don't care that much about the trade rejection time as I'm online just about everyday and I always check my emails daily as I have to for the work I do.

BTW: I think Showbag was just copying the Div 1 format as we should do the same as them if we are going to have a promotion regulation thingy.......

my views on the league:

- since there's talk of a promotion/relegation system, we should make the league settings like those of 'div 1'. so i think if definitely should be H2H

- agree with the stat categories except for fouls. we should leave it out i reckon.

- i think 13 players per team is fine. any more would be too many & have owners reaching for the scrubs of the nba.

- either 1 or 2 IL spots is fine by me

- i s'pose we should scrap the idea of having a live draft this sunday...but i think Showbag should set up a league with a temporary time which we could always change.

- i agree with grimlock that finding a suitable time for 12 owners probably won't happen, but for what it's worth, i'm available on weekend mornings/afternoons.

- otherwise, like a few others have mentioned, i'd be in favour of a Bigfooty board draft
