The reason so many crazed tipsters went for Fremantle last Sunday was apparently because Matthew Richardson and Brad Ottens were injured.

But the fact that Shane Parker, Luke McPharlin, Graham Polak and Steven Koops were missing from the Dockers' defence was of no concern.

Dare I say it, and with all due respect to the back six that started for Fremantle last Sunday, I've coached their equal in Sunday football at Maddington (a pretty handy team in their time).


I used to like Cometti, but really... he is pretty clueless. Hayden, Haddrill, Woods and Grover were 4 of our best players on Sunday. That was just an insult to them.

I used to like Cometti, but really... he is pretty clueless. Hayden, Haddrill, Woods and Grover were 4 of our best players on Sunday. That was just an insult to them.

He'll be the first one to jump back on board when we turn it around too.

He was sticking up for us. The point he was trying to make was that Fremantle were undermanned. And yes the mentioned players were great but that doesnt mean they are the best we have.

Anyway it certainly would be good to have all our options open.

That is the team Perth recruited Winston Abraham from ... Winston was good till his family discovered he was related... & that Melbourne was too far too travel

Yeah, he I guess he was probably trying to stick up for us but for saying our back six was like the Maddington side, it was pretty insulting.

Dennis Commetti I do not like , as he thinks he is the master of the back hand compliment.

Anyone who doesnt know what a backhand compliment - it is an apparent compliment but in a way spoken to belittle your acheivement ,

Never liked the West Perth Hack- what has he ever acheived in the footy arena ??? or as a coach ??? Iwill tell you as a coach he had a mighty fine West Perth team in '83 and took them as far as 3rd posi...... shouldve done better Dennis...I guess that why you got sacked or did you quit ???

As a coach (or a player) he makes an excellent commentator.

But he is a great commentator, and though his comments are often quite cryptic,if you listen carefully,he usually finds a way to stick up for the West Aussies.

He is just too professional to be as blatantly biased as some commentators.

He's forte is obviously commentating, not coaching and I'm sure he'd be the first to admit it.
He's no worse than some of the garbage that passes for intelligent football comment in WA ie. George Grizzlesh1ts and Brad Hardly

He has been the best commentator of football we have had for at least the last 10 years and i hope he is around for a lot longer!
I must admit i do miss dennis and bruce calling together i thought they complimented each other very well!

Ultimately Defenders are usually the best on ground for a losing side or a side that gets thumped.
Grover and Hadrill are quality defenders but Woods and Hayden are mere fillins.
They will make way for McPharlin and Parker imediately with Hadrill and Polak a close contest.

I think Woods & Heydon are better than "mere fillins".

Woods might be playing in the backline to fill in gaps atm, but Hayden seems to be good enough to hold his place in a full strength side. He's certainly going to be playing on Matera next week.

Our backline is getting better week by week.

Mr Cometti has always been a relatively solid commentator who has been free of any bias, but I feel he has been mixing with bad company over the last 12 months. Maybe a front page expose is required.

I wouldnt get to carried away with the backline yet. Yes there is much to look forward to , but on the flip side as a group they wouldve been pretty dirty to concede 19 at the weekend.

I think we will truly appreciate this group this time next season

They did get 3 from free kicks and soooffftt 50's

Parks will be better for the run and the roos kicked amazingly accurately.

Woods is the most accurate kick over long distance in the team I reckon.
