Like everybody else here, I have been enthralled by the Commonwealth Games so far and the high quality of athletes on display (By the way, was there anyboy in that women's marathon who was under 35 or had run more then one marathon in their life?)
Of course, the Channel 7 commentary has been first-class, especially if you want non-biased, incisive coverage. I know when I think of experts in gymnastics I think of Gary Wilkinson.
And Sandy Roberts outdid himself last night when introducing the Women's 20km walk:
"The race consists of ten 2 millimetre laps."
If only.
Also, its been interesting to hear Tim Lane do radio commentary on the games for 3LO. Notably he has been shamelessly biased towards the Australian athletes when calling (as all of them have). As I recall, didn't he pull out of calling Channel 9 footy because he felt Eddie would be seen as non-objective baised when calling Collingwood games? What's the difference here?
