Like everybody else here, I have been enthralled by the Commonwealth Games so far and the high quality of athletes on display (By the way, was there anyboy in that women's marathon who was under 35 or had run more then one marathon in their life?)

Of course, the Channel 7 commentary has been first-class, especially if you want non-biased, incisive coverage. I know when I think of experts in gymnastics I think of Gary Wilkinson.

And Sandy Roberts outdid himself last night when introducing the Women's 20km walk:

"The race consists of ten 2 millimetre laps."

If only.

Also, its been interesting to hear Tim Lane do radio commentary on the games for 3LO. Notably he has been shamelessly biased towards the Australian athletes when calling (as all of them have). As I recall, didn't he pull out of calling Channel 9 footy because he felt Eddie would be seen as non-objective baised when calling Collingwood games? What's the difference here?

They HAD to get Raelene Boyle back for the 'Friendly Games' didn't they? I was just getting over her whiney voice from Sydney.

And whats the deal with George Griljsich covering the boxing on the ABC? I thought he worked on commercial radio these days.

The only problem with Ch 7's live coverage is that 702 have already broadcast the events over the radio hours before they appear on Ch 7.:p :p

I think it's the production is a combination of the commercial stations like 3AW and the ABC - hence explaining the apperance of Tony Leonard in the broadcast.

Where's SPecial Bruce? Haven't watched it but surely he's on the job.

And I love the Pie fan's still bitter over Tim Lane....get over it Eddie is so baised but more than that he's not as good a caller as the guys on the ABC or Bruce MAC for that matter.

The issue at the time wasn't whether Eddie was a better caller then Tim, it was over his perceived bias.

The fact is that Tim is far more blatantly biased, except its done in a more 'acceptable' manner.
