Ed has been named for the Demon's game this Sunday - most likely to start Sub, but given his speed and hard-running ability, I'd like to see him start at HFF so Walters can spend more of the game up forward and crumbing goals.

Personally I'm delighted to see him debut and want him to play an entire game - given his performances at Peel, I think he's got the tank for it.

What do you think everyone: is Ed a certainty for the vest, or does his 20+ possession average at Peel (and Melbourne's relatively young and green midfield) make him too good a player to leave on the bench?

EDIT: Hats off to Freomaniac who correctly tipped back in July that one of our young guys would debut in this exact game.

Good video of what he can provide. Exciting little prospect, good run!

Yeah I just watched that - some really nice toe on display in that video.

At the 58 second mark, you can see Ed burns off Clem smith easily before a shepherd from a team-mate takes Clem out of the chase completely. Clem isn't exactly slow, so I'm looking forward to seeing him play. His speed and run as a sub could be really fun to watch.

IF he gets the vest, hopefully he'll takes a leaf out of Sutty's book and rack up some hefty numbers with only limited game time.

What is this wizardry, Ross doesn't play the yoof

Seriously, it's pathetic to bring that one out when we're debuting our 4th player in 2 years, in the 2nd last round with nothing on the line to most likely play as the sub.

Ross Lyon gives less games to youth than any other coach in the AFL, that's a fact.

Also, I am not sure if you have noticed, but now that our first choice defense are all fit again, our most promising youngster has been dropped.

Congrats to Ed, has been in great form at Peel in the back half of the season, looking forward to seeing his wheels out there :):thumbsu:

Exactly.

Will play 1 qtr and won't see him till end of next year.

Kicked GOTY in the wafl a few weeks back, hopefully brings some of that magic on Sunday.
Good luck to Ed, has been a huge surprise packet of the draft showing amazing signs of development for a pick 54 first year draftee, may be a vital part of the team next year (especially if the subs gone, he will get full games!!)

That's a fact, in your opinion.

Freo have given games to about the average number of 2014 draftees the games played are ahead of teams like NM.

Brad Scott doesn't play yoof.

I would have thought that it was pretty obvious that he is being rested, but hey maybe that's just me...

You still don't understand and provide stats without any context. What constitutes a game? 1 qtr? What are the other clubs level of depth? Do they have MDB/Suban type of players who're keeping youth out?

Point been, its much more complex than providing a table to justify he does/doesn't play youth.

Especially the lack of training but you know. Ross yoof, whatever.

SO NM, Carlton, Essendon and Port don't have the same calibre of players as Freo, the spuds as it were?

Now do the same table including 2012 and 2013 draftees. We are the lowest in the league by a street.

Seriously, do yo ever say anything positive about the club?

These sad sacks are dragging this board down

Never happy when we win, whinge like **** when we lose and have now turned on the coach
