Not sure if I'm on my own here lads, but watched the boy several times this year and he looks ready for a crack soon. Consistently in the best and has that rare attribute at Richmond that very few possess.......SKILL!!!!!!! Good a time as any i would of thought, in the games I've watched he looks a lot more ready for the real stuff then Edwards and Riewoldt. Definitely don't play them all at once as that would be just overkill but i think he's a more then worthy inclusion in coming weeks, tough and skillful is hard to pass up. Bring the firey little bastard in!.....will be our best player from the 06' draft.

ahah don't throw him in with the wolves....haven't you heard the saying if you lay down with dogs you'll get fleas. We don't want the unskilled duds contaminating him:eek:;)

Greg Miller says . . . "
As for Connors, he is a long way off and he knows it. not fit enough or consistent from qtr to qtr."

That was three weeks ago, I would think his fitness would've improved but I still hear about him going missing quite a bit. I'd like to give him a game or two this year but basically VFL all year for the kid and then build up to challenge for a spot next year with a really solid pre-season. :thumbsu:

I know that whats being said but i must admit i don't fully understand it.....Connors did the same pre season all the drafts did, has not been injured and has played every game this season rotating through the midfield! how can he not be fit enough!
Add to that a pretty vigorous TAC schedule last year which included footy at state level, If he's not fit enough he bloody well should be.

is he playing midfield or is he going to just be another newman?

we need more people who can win it in the middle and not just sweep in the back pocket for cheap kicks

should have been top 20 in draft the fitness concerns is why he went so late

He likes traffic and looked comfortable in tight situations at the u/18s carnival last year, but who knows where Tezz will play him.

He's a Dal Santo style of player all over :thumbsu:

Fitness AND leg speed were the reasons he slipped, plus a couple of rumours about things he's done in the past but that could be BS. ;)

I love what I've seen from him. He's going to make the Johnsons and Tucks look like Flemings.

For him to drop to 58 then he must have poor skin folds (or whatever they are), but he is definately a highly talented footballer. He just isn't an athlete.

Another naturally talented player who was recognised as having problems developing fitness and leg speed was Andrew Krakouer.

If Connors works extremely hard he could be a top shelf talent, but he dropped in the draft probably because of risks that he may not have the mental application to put in all this extra work. I'm glad to hear GM say "he has a lot of work to do and he knows it".

The scary thing is, of ALL the places for a player in this "must work hard to succeed" category to end up Richmond is probably the last place they should be! Let's hope Deledio, Foley and Howat teach him how to put in the hard yards and let's hope Joel Bowden's "I don't like training" attitude doesn't rub off on him.

He seems to be good friends with Shane Edwards and Shane has awesome fitness so that's a good guy to hang around early in his career :thumbsu:

All you guys appear to have a lot more faith In Greg Miller (and his assessments) than I think he deserves.
Let's see what happens when he's not at Richmond, just like he's not at the Kangas!

From memory he has only been in the best one week, in a losing side.

I've only seen that one game and he did look skilled but was not sighted too often suggesting he needs to work on the tank.

I think we need to try others out before Connors. There are others closer to weeding time that need to be sorted out first.

difference being connors knows how to win his own footy unlike krapoor who gets a pat on the ass from miller when he break double figures possesion wise

connors could be a dal santo but no doubt he'll end up some jess sinclair type when richmond are done with him

Polo was very much the same early on and took a while to adjust his attitude but is now doing well. I think Connors will follow a very similar path.

If he does have a bad attidude, the worst thing we can do is give him games. He may think he was earnt them when in reality where testing our boys to see what they are all made of and giving them something to expect

Thats the problem with Connors to Edwards, Edwards is absolutley fanatical about footy, he isn't as skillful and might not actually be as good as Daniel but the difference is application, Shane really wants to be a footballer and play senior footy for Richmond, with Connors it seems to be a "Whatever" type of attitude.

ThaTS a load of shi.t.. you would have no grounds to base that shocking comment on...you have made that up to sound cool..loser.. connors will play in 2weeks.. HBk619 make me sick

connors will play in 2weeks..

Yeah but this is the "Richmond" weekly timeline we're talking about ;)

When they tell you 2 weeks they end up taking 6... hate to break the news!

As long as he gets a taste this year and a few games for experience next year then it'll probably make him hungrier than he's ever been to be a star.

Nice to see you have the blinkers on.

A typical Richmond supporters life. :o
