Is he instructed to always take the opposition. Even though this has worked at times it seems that more often than not he puts himself under pressure which effects his disposal

learning curve. he needs to do a lot of sprint training over the preseason and get another yard or two.
I don't think it's got anything to do with lack of pace, in fact I think it's the opposite.

He's so quick he thinks he can burn off everyone like he used to in under age but underestimates how quick some others are. He just needs to pick his mark more carefully.

sure, but theres no doubt he has physical room for improvement. he will be quicker and stronger next year.

Precisely, his problem.

Also needs to settle for a couple of steps before delivery - burst then settle.

Seems to be a little bit predictable running to his right to get on to a right foot kick. Whats his left like ?

It has more to do with having limited viable targets in the forward line.
When there is no leading option, Coons often tries to "run the lines" in order to get the ball deep into the forward line, knowing full well that any kick to the half forward line will usually rebound with interest.

When we get a couple of viable tall marking options (Darcy and a CHF), players such as Cooney will improve immensely.

Yep at the moment he is really holding onto the ball and pushing opposition players right up until he needs to dispose of the ball because he is trying to draw players in order to free up our guys.

He'll be a better player when he has a strong target to kick towards on the burst so he doesn't have to slow and pick out a small in the F50 every time.

trying to do to much occasionally,he will get better, god the amount of times our players get the ball and look forward to find nothing is disturbing. PLEASE GET SOME STRUCTURE FFS.
