Finally we know whats wrong with him. TBH I hope they don't try to rush him, He may play round 1 if they do but then he may miss 10+ games with an injury during a game.

Luck really needs to be on his side.

If he has been hampered by the same injury as last year, just on the other leg, then i can't see him playing before round 7-8; as was the case last year.

To be honest, i do not want to see him hit the field until he is 100%...even if that means missing the first half of the season.

Disappointing for him and us, but lets not rush him back, and I'm sure they won't, he is still only a kid and the future 10+ year star of the game.

I rather see him miss the early games and get the recovery right and play during the second half of the year, than playing to early and missing games late in the season if he doesn't get the recovery right.

It justs creates another opportunity for someone else come Rd1.

He has a better fitness base this time round and senior experience so maybe he could come straight in when ready.

Wait till he is right then give him another week to be sure I say.

We've got Benny and a host of other good players on board. Let Cotchy rest until he is 110%, unleash him in the second half of the season if we need to wait that long.

Need him for the finals.

He is far better off than last year. I'm content with that:)

I'm not. This is bullshit again from our medical and training staff. I know for a fact that Steve Salopek suffers (still) from exactly the same thing but is managed properly by his club. What were we doing letting Trent push himself to such limits before Xmas? This flare up could easily be avoided with the correct management. Brown, Coughlan, Meyer, Cotchin..........the list of Puck ups continues to grow.

I hear you... can't fault the attitude but perhaps the club should have monitored him a lot closer.

Rather he do an injury training too much than jump over a pub fence and break his ankle...

Are you serious? Do you think the club has some 40-odd full-time chaperones who follow players around over the Christmas break to ensure they're not over-training? Of course not. By the time the club found out how hard Cotchin (and Jackson and Reiwoldt and White, I might add) had been training by themselves during the break, the damage had been done.

Summer holidays for AFL players are exactly the same as holidays for the rest of us - it means they go away and they don't go to work for a few weeks. The difference is that they are expected to maintain their fitness level, whilst we are expected to get blind drunk and eat too much food.

You and your pessimism are forgetting the injury success stories: Richo; Johnson; Newman; at this stage Polak too.
