I only caught the 2nd half of the game last night and from what I saw Cotch used the ball quite poorly. Very few kicks hit the target and the stats say he had 47% effieciency!!!!

Is it just me or has Cotch's ball usage been a lot poorer than last year? Does anyone have any stats on his efficiency from last year compared to this year?

Was it just an off game last night or could his disposal perhaps have something to do with his lack of preseason?

God I hope we don't turn him to shit like we always do.

Poor thread. Injured his leg early in game and was clearly restricted. Cotchin is always clean with the ball when 100% and now gets 2 weeks to freshen up.

Yeah I didn't see the first half of the game.

I found it unussual as Cotch is ussually awesome with the ball by foot. Thanks for clearing that up.:thumbsu:

his leg injury restriced him alot but after the break he will be fine and matty white should also be back so we will have a full list to choose from except richo.

Was heavily strapped around the thigh. Was corked before the game and again during the game from what i heard.
I think he played more in the midfield and was probably a little fatigued also. Don't read to much into it.

Ohh okay, my bad Ross. I'm in a good mood today. :thumbsu::)

The thing about the effctive %, is if you kick the ball long along the wing and the ball fall in the hands of the oppostion is an ineffective kick. was fatigued aswell watched him and in the 2nd half was spent. good to see:thumbsu:

the guy is a gun, injury screwed him last night, he's normally one of the best for richmond disposal wise

Still looked up and put the ball to the right areas despite the ball often being spoiled. Only remember one kick which was an out and out clanger (last quarter kicked to absolutely no one on the HFF). Was injured early and is still yet to do a preseason. I'm not worried at all.

before the end of the year i just want cotch to tear a game apart, so get 35+ touches, 2-3 goals, 5 tackles. that would be great.

i am in shock that no one on this thread has said "delist him" yet

happens to every other player when they have stats like cotch's last night :p

Well actually his stats show that both Tuck and Foley, both much maligned for ball-usage, have higher disposal efficiency over the season than Cotch, all around 70% before last night. Take from that what you will.

interesting when you look at this stats.

I noticed in the sport section of The Age today that he had 19 disposals and 66% time on ground.

At that rate he'd be looking at about 30 touches a game from 100% gametime so there's definetely no problem with him finding the ball.

Considering he's yet to complete a full preseason in two years I think he's gliding along very nicely.

He still looked good in patches last night when he accelerated away and gave a handball to a guy in space.

Full preseason, body development and natural improvement means he'l get to more 1 on 1 contests next year and be able to use his core strength and evasiveness to dodge and break tackles.

There's no need to query his disposal.

He's as classy as a 19 year old can be, and then some.

Don't think there is anything to worry about. Probably suffered from the injury he sustained earlier in the game or may have just had an off night.

the problem is the blokes give him the ball and expect him to be gary ablett and take everyone on, they dont support him enough.

and players arent as intelligent as him and dont run into the positions where he wants to and should be kicking it.

Cotchin got a corked thigh in the first quarter, that'd be enough to affect his kicking. lay off him he'll be fine.

I'd love to have him as my skills coach, every kick is a text book drop punt.
Everytime he gets it in his hands you know 95% of the time, something good will happen.

Cotch and Lids stand out in their ability to, when seemingly cornered by a couple of opponents, use their acceleration to find a hole, get clear and dispose to someone in the clear.

Plenty to look forward to here...

dude...give you the tip, if the rest of the 22 had half of the smarts and know how that this kids got we would win a flag....like WTF. His gives and awareness were at times sublime....even when in the heat of battle while being tackled, he would get it out to OUR advantage and no one elses. ;)
