With the news of my new cousin arriving a few days ago, as well as talking to someone on msn about this, and Suzi's claim that the likes of Anthony Stevens and some AFL Umpire are her cousins, I was wondering how many cousins you have?

I have now got 14 direct cousins, with another on the way in a matter of months. I believe this is an unusually high number, for a 'young' family with no seperations or divorces at all (hence no 'half-cousins). For someone my age this is a bit distressing.

I have 8 on my Dad's side and 2 on my Mum's side. And none of them have ever umpired or played AFL football or any other sport at a professional level.

Ok, I'll give a break down....

14 all up

11 on dad's side (soon to be 12)

3 on mum's

6 girls (2 on mum's side), 8 boys (1 on mum's side)

Interesting fact, 6 boy's were born on dad's side before a girl came along. Since then another boy was born, and three more girls followed him. That's pretty unusual....

I have 14 too.

10 on one side and 4 on the other. None older than me, and the youngest is 1. 7 boys and 7 girls. All first marriages as well. (can't say the same for my brothers and sisters though!)

I was the first in my generation to have a baby, and 3 of the girls have also since had kids.

I'm one of the few out of my cousins who hasnt had a kid got married or stolen my siblings partner from them ;) (which makes things interesting when cousins are also half bro and sis  )

I am from a rather big family on both sides.

I have 8 cousins on my Mum's side and 9 on my Dad's side. It would have been 10, only one of my cousins decided to commit suicide a couple of years ago when he was just 15.

Total = 17.

My mum and her sister married my dad and his cousin.

So, my uncle and auntie on mums side are my second cousins on dads side. Their kids are first cousins on mums side, and third cousins on dads side.

I'm pleased to say there were no actual mixing of blood lines. :D

20 and 2 'second-cousin's'.

Over 3/4 of them are females, less than a quarter I haven't met and the rest I haven't seen for a looooong time.

On my Mum's side of the family i've got 6 cousins.

On my Dad's side of the family i've got 20 cousins (that was at last count).

Dad's side of the family is pretty ****ed with partner swapping and god knows what else

Now thats what I find wierd - I got stuck with going to countless family gatherings and Christmas' growing up.

A bit hard when my family never lived where my relatives lived ;). I probably have met them, just not when I can remember!

After some counting up here goes.

Mum's side- 13(mostly teenagers)
Dad's side- 10(most of them suck)

2nd cousin's

Mum's side- 2
Dad's side- 13

geezus - not even gonna try and count.

at a guestimate - between first, one and a half and 2nd cousins (dont ask me the difference!) around 70 odd Id say - all over the globe too. In regards to relationships, I am as close, if not more, to some of my 2nd than first.

Heaps more who I call, and introduce as my "cousin" but really we arnt.

Bloody Italians! lol

6 cousins, all on my mum's side. One of them I never met because of a divorce, but she's the only one my age, her sister is 2 years older than me and the rest of them are in their 30s. They all live in England, I miss them actually.

My second and third cousins are closer to my age, but I don't how many of them there are.
