Anybody got any suggestions as to how to stop floorboards from creaking?

Don't suggest rugs, because I already have those and don't suggest I put in carpet, because that aint gonna happen.

An eejit friend of mine suggested I sprinkle talcum powder on the boards. I did that and now I have sh*tloads of white powder everywhere and still creaking boards.

Any ideas?

No, but seriously, I'm not to sure, and really don't know why I posted that remark. Who know though, it's probably the correct answer:cool:

LOL, I assume you are joking right!!

If you are right I'll sue the bloke who did the building inspection!!

Sue away, get a council inspector out to look at it, my first ex is in the building industry & we had to get our house restumped, the house I am renting at the moment has the same problem, which is rare in Perth because not many houses have stumps, just concrete pads, but this place is over 5o years old.

At least I have had partners, unlike you who only has his computer as a mate.

Please don't troll in every thread, some people actually want to have "normal" posts.

My house is on concrete/brick pads as well. I don't think it is a major structural issue, more of a slight re-settling of the ground over the years (it's about 80 years old).

Nothing major I hope.

Sorry, when you said floorboards, I assumed you had a house on stumps, most houses with concrete pads don't have floorboards, just concrete & carpet, so totally different problem, I only know how stumped houses can be fixed.

Fair enough, although living in Sydney I have noticed that a lot of floorboard houses are built on brick or concrete pads, rather than the stumps which seem to be the norm in Perth. Having said that, a lot of houses in Sydney built on said concrete pads have carpet on top of the floorboards. This carpet in a lot of cases is being removed to expose the floorboards. Like my place.

Confused yet? Good!!:D

No not in Perth the norm is concrete pads, I was talking about Melbourne where I lived most of my life, the majority of houses in Melbourne have stumps for their foundations, rather than concrete pads.
